Ok... this is freaky, and I'm stumped as to what to do...

I have a user who has dialup, when they close Internet Explorer, a little window pops up that asks them if they wish to disconnect or not. This happens every time they close IE.

They have two dialup accounts, one is AOL, one is Megalink. The AOL one doesn't do this, the Megalink one does.

Any ideas on how to make that window go away? (there is no checkbox for "Dont' show me this again").

Thank you for the help! I'm stumped.

I'm pretty sure that there is a dial-up networking setting for this. Have the person compare the Dial-Up Network settings between the 2 providers and see if there is something different.

Try this: Go into the Internet Options in Explorer, Connection Tab. Select the Dial-UP connection they are having the problem with. Click Settings, click Advanced, and check to see if the Disconnect when connection is no longer needed is checked. If it is, uncheck it.

If that doesn't fix it, I don't know of any other option that would address that issue.

do they connect to the Internet by opening Internet Explorer? Or do they have an icon on their desktop specifically for connecting to the Internet? I believe that if they use Internet Explorer to connect to the Internet, that is why they are seeing that popup. On the Connections tab of Internet Options in Internet Explorer, ask them to select "Never dial a connection".

I thought you'd want that option checked if you don't want a popup disconnect box when your user closes their browser. Assuming of course you do want the user to drop the connection when the browser closes.

I have it set to "Always Dial my Internet Connection" in the connection tab and the option I mentioned before unchecked. I never had a pop-up box asking me if I wanted to disconnect.

I just messed with this a few months back. I needed my in-laws to always prompt them to disconnect (if not they'd stay connected all day). I don't remember exactly but I know it was a pain I had to search google for a good hour.
trying to find the same links I used I came accross these, they're not the same but they may work

if not, what OS are they using?
