Basic snitz forum, color customized into my site template. I'm using the User/Pw data from the snitz database to run the other databases on my site (cyber golf tour for a pc game).. also use the forum as player list and email system (newsletters).

I plan to take out the login off the top of the forum, since it is located the left side of every page and redo the look of forum.asp (too bulky, want the visitors to see the posts easily).

site is still under construction, redesign.

Stuff like this is sometimes hard to notice, but it appears that your forum is loading pretty slow.

I ran it in Opera so I could see what kind of bandwidth I'm pulling (anywhere from 15-45/KBps) so it doesnt appear to be an issue with that. Out of curiosity what kind of database are you running?

Thanks wii

Blue space depends on screen resolution, 800x600 fits snuggly, i use 1024x768 leading to blue space, more with higher resolutions. 60 to 70% of my visitors use 800 (yuck). The way I have the navigation bar, would be time consuming to make it 100% instead set amount of pixels.

I need the universal login so our players can report scores, adjust rankings, wins/losses to the appropriate user name. Login on forum itself will go.

I have T1 at work, cable at home, didn't know forum was loading slow.. I use Access for the entire site. I have 300-350 page views on an average day, but from all the stats I've seen, never many people at once, assuming I'm ok and don't need mysql. I ran speed tests on my basic template early on and thought it was good. Didn't notice it, but you're right, seems it is loading slowly.

Thanks for the comments all!!!! I appreciate them.

this may be the best time to consider MySQL (if you were planing on considering it at some point).

I just say this because it seems that many people have found it is much easier to start with MySQL rather than migrate Snitz to it at a later point (which is what I happen to be in the middle of). You could of course still use Access for the rest of your site if you wanted to...

this should give you a better idea of what I'm talking about:

I think I'll seriously look into that. No true users signed up yet, so going MySQL would be easy. Thanks for the link!

you really need to check the way you've handled the integration of your forums into your site's template. The HTML is a mess.

Not sure what you mean? I used two include files to integrate forum (one file covers the top and left side, the second files covers the bottom), same way with everything else on the site.

... nevermind, just looked through it carefully, html is a bit of a mess in forum (ie i have <head> and </head> several times on a page, grrr)

Thanks FrutZle, would never have noticed that since all seems to work on the front end.

thanks again, cleaned it up... mistake on my own poll and mistake on inc_header (cleaned nonforum header/footer up).

... never looked at source for the entire page (it did look like a mess), just the file parts and see if it came out ok in the front end.
