How to I create a forum that is only visible and accessible to certain users?
In other words, what do each of these options mean:
Members Only Members Only (Hidden) Password Protected Members Only and password protected Allowed Member List & Password protected Allowed Member List Allowed Member List (hidden)
Also, are there any administrator guides or manuals?
Thank you,
Kristy Artz |

Use the Allowed Member List (hidden). That way only members of the allowed member list (you define who they are) get to even see the forum. Non-hidden options will allow the forum to be seen, but those not on the allowed member list won't be able to see the topics inside. Members only auth types mean that only registered users will get to see the forum topics or the forum itself (hidden option). With password protection members need to enter the password to see topics in the forum, though they can see that the forum exists. |

Kristy,
Do you have a forum yet?
If you look to the right of the category there is a purple folder to create another forum...that is where you set the options you are asking about.
As for a manual, just click when you are setting something up to read the information, it's a great guide. |

Well what I meant is that currently the password is enough to get throught using either of these sections, so if someone leaks it out, there's no way of tracking unauthorized access, I would like to have the extra security of having the member registered in the forums, which is what the "Members Only (hidden)" does. |

First you need to have the Private Forums option set to On, in Admin Options, Feature Configuration. Then you need to edit the forum properties and change the Auth Type to the desired setting (Members Only (hidden)). With that only forum members will be able to access the forum. |

Right, and sorry for not being clearer but I was wanting to add a password option too, so Hidden AND password, while now it it is Members/Allowed OR password from what I've seen. |

Is this a security glitch in "Allow member list & password protected"? I've set up a allow members and password protect forum but I am able to access the forum as a non member or non register user by typing in the password and reading the topics. I guess the odds of guessing the password is slim, but one would think that the allow members list would prevent the access of the forum even if they guessed the password. Any suggestions? |

Why include the "allow members list" and password if it doesn't work. Or am i not understanding the option. |
