"Dude, you're getting a cell" - beats the one I thought of: "Dude, you're going to jail" hehehe

I've hated those commercials for over a year. Buy a Dell, get a free cell upgrade. ;-)

Things seem to be backwards nowadays... he'll probably get movie deals now... look at Robert Downey Jr.

And why the hell should he, if they spent more time arresting people for peddling hard drugs rather than busting ordinary people for smoking pot there wouldn't be such a huge drug problem in the first place.

Just curious, but what's wrong with Dell that isn't wrong with HP, Compaq, Gateway, Fujitsu/Siemens, Toshiba and Sony to name just a few other computer companies? They all sell computers that are too expencive compared to when you get one built the way you want it (especially if you take the time to do it yourself), but besides that, why so negative about Dell?

Yeah, I like dell computers. (don't love them, just like them).

The Dell Dude wasn't put in jail. The judge said he will let him off if he doesn't get arrested within the next year. So he walked.

The Dell Company said they are going to look into the situation to see what really happened. They haven't announced anything yet concerning the dell dude doing anymore commercials from them.

I actually like Dells. I have a laptop, C610, that works beatifully. However, now that we can only buy dells for desktops (corporate loves to change computers every once a while to make support easier) they are a pita when comes to drivers. Since a lot of their stuff is proprietary, the drivers must come form them and not the actual manufacturer. For example, I tried installing the latest ATI driver from the ATI web site and it crasjed the system, their driver worked perfect. SO they really lock you in to their stuff. ALthough not as bad as Compaq did (still does?) a few years back.

I agree with Huwr, not that I condone smoking pot, but they waste time with petty $hit instead of going after true crimes and drug dealers. No, I don't think smoking pot is so awful that we need a "marijuana Task Force".

Compaq used to make proprietary memory chips (naturally very expensive compared even to Kingston's) for their servers, etc. If the bios didn't detect their memory, it wouldn't even start.

I find dell are fine for workstations, but as servers we always had issues with Dell's. The Compaq's had their faults as well, but no where near what the Dell's had. That is what turned me off Dell's (as I type away on a Dell 610 notebook). So workstation fine, server not so good. IMOO..

Cheers,

David Greening
