Is there any such thing?
Ideally, I'd like a user to be able to get a pm alert with a link to any reply to a FORUM TOPIC to him/her in it.
NOT a subscription email..too much overhead involved, and SLOW!
Switchable, of course and fast
Lol
Any ideas?
Am I ( I hope) missing such a thing? |

The point of subscriptions is so that the user does not have to visit the forum to see who has posted... so why do you want this? |

there's a pager add on for pm, so one can turn on the pager instead of visiting the forum or site. say, let the pager check every 10 minutes, then it's pretty much the same as an email notify. however, some company offer email-beeper/mobile sms which comes handy, but not all are free.
another alternative is SMS, again, SMS is not always free but it depends on the nature of the forum, specific topic.
this could be done and shouldn't be very difficult. but I don't know the impact on the server if there are many subscriptions, it should be faster than the email without que. |
