After the "Your registration is almost complete" window comes on the screen it reverts to this
quote:
There Was A Problem With Your Details

You must choose a UserName
You must choose a Password
You Must give an e-mail address
You Must enter a valid e-mail address
You must select your country
E-mail Address already in use, Please Choose Another

The registration still functions, but the user doesn't know it at this point, and tries to do it over again (which won't work because the data is already in "Members pending".)

Which files could be part of this problem and which should I make into .txt files to upload for you to see?

I think I would look at the register.asp file. It looks like your errMsg text is located in the wrong spot. If you want to send me the register.asp file or post a link to it i'll take a quick look.

That's my feeling too, Mike, but I can't find what's wrong.
The file is in the mail.

If you haven't modified your register.asp file, the other thing that would cause that is if your user refreshed the registration page, before they subitted thier registration. This would cause the page to lose the referrer url, thus the forum refreshing the page after the user gets the "Registration Complete" and getting all those error messages.

Alfred, I will try to have a look. Do yourself a favor next time: keep a working copy of the file. While you're testing some changes, why not save those changes in a file with another name?

I try to do that, Rui, but I was not working on the register.asp at the time.
I worked on pop_profile.asp and members.asp, and when I had all going ok I uploaded them.

Then I ran a register test and the error came up!

that's what Rui meant. you should have tested the registration process on a testing forum before implementing it on your real forum.

I registered fine on you site but I did noticed that when I clicked on register it opened up a new window and loaded the policy page as well as loading the policy page on the old window. I closed the new window and registered. Now I suspect that if a user does not close one of the windows it will generate your error. This tells me the problem is in the link for the register (I think inc_header.asp).

I had no problems registering at your forum either. Just completed my email validation, as user testR and everything works as expected. That is consistent with my analysis of your register.asp file: found no errors.

Yes, I saw your "testR" and deleted it.
I also tried twice now, and both times I got the same problem result.
Did you wait after the "Your Registration is almost complete" window came up?
When I wait for it to revert back it shows the red validation problems, and also, as Mike noticed as well, there is a second Policy.asp window under it.

???
Something's not right!

alfred, what is happening is the second pop up window has <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="5; URL="> in it. notice the empty url. i suggest you make it so that the register icon DOES NOT open a new window to avoid that. people are getting registering, the page is just refreshing to itself, spitting out that error.

by the way you can delete test1 and test2

Alfred, better do as Nikkol suggested. I have a popup blocker, so I really cannot test this properly.
