Hi everyone-

I just installed the forums and can't find any problems except 1 (and it's probably something I set wrong)...

I am using this on an Intranet, using NT authentication and IE. I set the authentication to NT (not DB). When I setup the forums, I was able to add myself as a user (super admin) no problem. Now, whenever someone browses to the main forums site (main page), it forwards them to
register.asp?Mode=DoIt

with the errors:
There was a problem with your details.
* UserName already in use, please choose another.
* Email address already in use, please choose another.

If you click on the TreeView or the Logo (top left) to return to the main page, it forwards back to this page, with the same error. Only by clicking "Profile" on the top right menu will it go the page that says "This NT account has not been registered. Click here to register." From there everything works as should.

When I go check the pending registrations, it shows a pending registration with no email or userName (from the first error page trying to start a new account).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance-

Maybe try setting Require Registration to On in Admin Options -> Main Forum Configuration. Not sure that it will work, but maybe it will.

That option is already set, I have tried turning it on and off to no avail.

what type of permissions do you have set on the forum folder? maybe check Windows Integrated and see if that helps.

I've tried the "Require Registration" option as well...no go...

I have Windows Integrated Authentication enabled...authenticated users have read access...

Well, I fixed (work around) the problem. Turn off NT authentication and use default DB authentication just like you would if you were on the Internet...hopefully not too many people clean out their cookies so they don't have to log in all the time...

I'd really like to see if there's a solution for using NT authentication and auto-logon so that unidentified users are allowed to register.

Seems to me the right thing to do is get as much info from A/D as possible and auto-populate the reg form, then have them submit.

Right now, with this stuff turned on, what it does is give an error (shown in the original post of this topic) and it's non-intuitive to the user how to register.

Great software, tho!

This problem relates to your e-mail settings in the forum. As Admin goto the Admin Home page and then choose E-Mail Server Configuration. Then set require unique e-mail to off.

By default it's on and when using Autologon you are given a blank e-mail address and as it's a unique entry then the next person coming along cannot have blank as their address thus the error is generated.

This should sort this problem for you.
