I can't understand this. The developers have, urged by the Snitz users, come up with a solution to encrypt passwords, thus increasing the forum's protection in case of hacking. Some people choose not to have encryption. That I can understand. What I cannot understand is why would anyone have the passwords both encrypted and unencrypted. It beats me.
Personally I cannot see the usefullness of this mod and I think its use will lessen the security of the forums. I cannot advise anyone to install this. |

This does not stir me. I just wanted to state what I think. And it lessens the security of the forums precisely because of the reason you stated.
You don't need to remove the mod. With the proper warning, people can choose whether to install that or not. I believe in freedom of choice. Of course, I admit that other people think otherwise, and probably some users would use your mod. |

havvoc, one of the main reasons we chose to encyrpt the passwords in the database, was so that if the database was downloaded by someone, they wouldn't have access to the passwords. |

I on the other hand have to be able to retrieve the users passwords in order to install them into a another user/password access listing. I realize the security implications of having a browser based viewing of the listing, but never the less I need to be able to list out all the password data so I can use it elsewhere. Can you help me on this, maybe off list? webmaster@mivadiva.com |

Doesn't virtually every other forum out there that has encryption not allow you to switch it off ?, with the increase in SQL Injection Attacks + Relatively recent SQL Server Worm this really is a must have feature for all forums. |

Gremlin, I didn't understand you--are you saying encryption is a must-have feature, or the ability to turn it off is a must-have feature? |

Good, that's what I was hoping you meant. I also think it's crucial now. |
