Hi, guys. I was wondering, is there a Snitz 3.3.4 -> phpBB2/Ikonboard/vBulletin/etc MS SQL database converter? (ie - if you're using Snitz and want to share database (ie- users and topics posted) with another forum or even switch all together. thnx. |

for that you should ask at the othr forum's site. usally people convert to "their own" forum and not vice versa |

I did, but they didn't have one for snitz ... so I thought I'd ask here in the hopes that someone had one. |

maybe thats because most people convert from one of those to Snitz, and not the other way around |

it's true, although many other forums offer more bas option, but none are as stable, reliable or as custimizable as Snitz Forums 2000 and most of the aformentioned packages are not free, so they can't "afford" to have an open source Snitz converter (that would expose their DB structure to non-paying costumers) Try to ask someone to make one for you, but not here, there! |

Well it was vBulletin and it seems pretty stable and customizable (I even installed a RPG mod ) so far. I searched the forums of phpBB, Ikonboard, and vBulletin ... there are a lot of posts of people wanting a converter for the switch, but strangley enough none available (except in phpBB, there were several attempts at them ) ... I made some posts for converter help there too, so hopefully someone will help out I guess. |

there are a lot of people here that might be wiling to make a converter. but vBulletin is expensive, so making a converter and test it, is not worth it for the happy users of Snitz |

True vBulletin is expensive But if that's the only issue, then perhaps they could make a converter to phpBB2, Ikonboard, or another one of the free ones that have vBulletin converters already out? That way someone could theoretically convert to one of those, then to vB |

Why would any of us want to spend our time making a convertor for another Forum Software? |

Well I was mostly wondering (in my first post) if someone who knew of one that already existed could point me to it. I don't really expect anyone to spend their time making one just for me (for free at least ... though on the other forums I saw a ton of people wanting such a converter ... I'm sure if someone would make one and charge something like $10 for it, they could make some money for their time with all the people searching for one. Personally, I'd be willing to pay more for such a converter). |

Thnx for the constructive reply, OneWayMule I think I found one here: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=10358 but it has some problems. I'll try to play around with it a bit over Xmas break and see if I can get it to work. |

I seem to recall there being a converter at one stage being available on their download page in the converters section, doesn't seem to be there now (which I realise doesn't really help you at all), but there may be more than one around as I thought the one I saw was a 3.3.x converter not 3.1 as posted above. |
