I'm starting to believe this is my host, because I've compacted/repaired my database on several occasions and never had a problem. Other people have also complained about Brinkster's ASP going slow.
Does anyone here know of any "good quality" ASP hosts, with decent prices (under 15 monthly), decent support, and FAST .ASP?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place... |

I'm currently using Brinkster Premium and having MAJOR PROBLEMS, here is the explanation they gave.
quote: MS Access has limitations that only permit a maximum of 10 concurrent connections to the database when writing or appending information. The maximum for read only access is up to 30, but still will become unstable.
If your site requires ability to support multiple concurrent connections, I would recommend that you upgrade the account to include SQL Server 2000 which is geared toward this type of traffic.
Whilst I can accept this, it happens when I am the only active user?, also my brinkster mail isnt working. Should I upgrade to the SQL Server as they suggest and if so would it mean altering my database or the connection string. Thanks in advance

Don't expect any forum to be that fast on a Brinskter server . However if you do have about 15-20 users simultaneously, maybe you should consider upgrading to SQL Server. In the Help: SQL Server forum there are a lot of posts about the way that should be done. Make sure you know how to do it if you make the move. Don't trust Brinkster to do it the right way, unless they tell you that they'll do it as we advise in the many posts about this issue.

You get what you pay for :) Free services are great for testing stuff but I don't think I'd ever use them for something I expected to be operational and fast 24x7.
Sabeth if your still looking or wanting to try out a different host then feel free to email me.
I'm moving this out of the Help General forum as well as it would seem your Forum is working ok. |

Thanks for your advice will read up on the SQL help, I'm currently paying 14.95 a month for Brinkster Premium and their SQL server package is also 14.95, however, as my domain name emails all fail to respond at the same time as the forum is slow I somehow think it has a little more to do than how many active users, as there are rarely more than 7 or 8. Sometimes the forum just fails to respond at all, as does the domain name email. I'm not sure SQL is the answer and if it was I certainly wouldn't upgrade with Brinkster as only around six weeks ago they broke my forum entirely and put a password and login box on all my webpages. Weird. |

Probably just the frontpage extensions getting themselves screwed, happens sometimes |

Resorting to SQL server can make your forum a bit faster, but I suspect that you may still have some problems, since my guess is that the problems you have described are web server related, and probably that won't change. |
