I've been thinking about getting an inexpensive (less than $50) TV tuner/video capture card. I've seen the ATI Value Edition one and the Hauppage WinTV but I'm curious about how they work with XP. I saw on the ATI site that there are some bugs with theirs and XP. I've read some reviews and some people say it works great and others say don't waste your money.
Have any of you have any experience with anything like this? I'd like to use it for watching TV, recording shows sometimes, and capturing video to do a little bit of home editing. Thanks in advance!
Hauppage is generally recognised as one of the Best quality cards out there, many people complain about the lack of quality driver support for the ATI's also :(. Another option would be Pinnacle Systems card, something like a PCTV Rave.
2 Pieces of Software you want to look at, www.showshifter.com (my favourite atm) and www.snapstream.com I've purchased both personally as the latter allows you easy streaming of the recorded video from around your house/network, the first performs better, has better DivX support etc and has also just released their new version 2.0. Snapstream should be releasing their latest version as well, I'm one of the beta testers for it atm and its looking pretty stable.
Well I have ATI Xpert 128 and even though its not TV tuner card, ATI.com has had new drivers available for it for all systems and all of the patches. ATi is good video card company.
