I am constantly getting Error 403 Access forbidden: too many users are connected.

The number of connections to IIS is limited to 10 in NT4 Workstation/W2K Pro/XP Pro. This connection limit is across the entire web server.
There are also some network connection limits in these OS's which may come into play if your database is on a different machine from the web server. |

Microsoft's marketing department, in an effort to further confuse their customers, announced that Windows XP combines the NT/2000 and 98/ME product lines - then failed to ship any XP server products.
Windows XP (Professional as well as Home Edition) are considered to be development PCs, and so allow only limited number of connections.
However, If you want to run a server with many connections you will still be using: - Windows NT
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- Windows 2000 Datacentre Server
It's their way of ensuring that you pay as much as possible
Also remember to check out the new clauses in the XP and Win2000 SP3 User Licence agreement They certainly won't be getting any more money for upgrades from me !

If you follow the link I posted above, you can download and use RC2 of Windows.NET Server 2003 for 360 days for free.
Windows.NET Server 2003 is the "XP Server" product that will succeed Windows 2000 Server. |
