Here's a new one. I installed the latest Microsoft hotfix and got this when I tried to reenter my forums.

I've checked the permissions, etc.; that's not it. Any clue?

Error Type:
Microsoft JET Database Engine (0x80004005)
Could not delete from specified tables.
/forums/inc_func_common.asp, line 191

Never mind, fixed it.

DJ5A, if you can run setup.asp and you're invited to upgrade that probably means your DB is not in the format corresponding to the version of the Snitz code you have. I would advise you to download the original database and then compact and repair it in your own computer, instead of doing it at the host's computer.

Hello ruirib:

It worked, Thanks for the Info ruirib!

If I use the Snitz Compact Database script, I get a time out error like this:

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0113'
Script timed out
/forum/admin_compactdb.asp

The maximum amount of time for a script to execute was exceeded. You can change this limit by specifying a new value for the property Server.ScriptTimeout or by changing the value in the IIS administration tools.
=======================================
In my database folder I find that my .bak file & database file are the same file size. I think it's the original size before compaction.

Then I have another database that is the Snitz_Compacted.mdb & it's exactly the same size as it would be if I Compact it in Access locally on my Computer, yes down to the byte. But If I rename that compacted .mdb to the database that I run snitz forum with I get this Error:
============================
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not delete from specified tables.
/forum/inc_func_common.asp, line 69
============================

So the only way I could get the forum going is Compacting the original database & upload it back to the Forum.

I've even run the compact database Script that you gave me & I basically get the same Error.

I did check with web host & they increased my Time from 90 seconds to 180 seconds & I got the same error, I went back to them & it's now 300 seconds (Is 300 seconds enough?). I do have full permissions for the DB folder. Also both times when it timed out at 90 & 180 seconds, the Snitz_compacted DB was the same size but it still gives the same errors?

Do you have any Ideas what I could Check or Do?

Thank You for Your Time!!!!!

DJ5A, I have no idea about the cause for that, but compacting Access Dbs seems like something your server has problems doing. Rather than compacting the DB online, regularly, compact it less regularly and only after deleting or archiving posts, by downloading it, compacting and uploading it again. Sorry, can't think of anything else to advise.
