Ok, i just bought parts to put together a new server. Well i put everything together. Now the son of gun wont start up.. When i turn it on, the fans spin, but it just wont boot up.. No lights flashing in the front or anything. Could someone please help me. I suspect its the wires which needs to be connected to the pins.. (ie. Power Led, HDD Led, Reset SW, etc..) but ive tried every possible combination I can think of with these wires, and it still hasnt worked. I read the mother board manual, over and over and over.. but im still having problems. Can someone please help me. :/ |

As Long as you have the Power Switch Wire connected the others dont really matter at all.
One that you will want to connect is the Speaker wire, then when powering listen for any beeps, if you hear a series of beeps then write them down, could be something like 3 short beeps or 2 long beeps etc.
Do you have a Motherboard with BIOS configurable CPU timings or is it Jumper based on the mobo ?
What sort of Video Card ? AGP, PCI or Onboard ? If AGP is the motherboard a 3.3 or 5V AGP Slot ?
Check your Memory is plugged in, confirm CPU is correctly seated and orientated correctly
Give us more info :) the more the better to try and help, motherboard type, CPU type, memory type etc etc |

Sounds like the reset jumper is left on reset... I used to get a heaps of MB's this way and it would only take the one time for me to check that first thing...

Motherboard bios reset, not the power reset.. In my years as a techo, there were quite a few dills (idiots) that used to put jumpers on the reset pins and forget about and say it was a fault with the MB..
I would find it, remove it and say: "Stand back while I kick you computer" and watch them in horror try to stop me. And just as I was about to kick, slam the hand on the table and gently touch the computer with my foot. Then turn it on and it would work.
Then would come out the excuses and I would charge them $240.00 for 2 hours work. Some people are gullible...
