Ok... I've always thought a good keyboard was the most important thing in computing... and a close second is a good mouse... and the closest of close 3rd is a good monitor!
Well... I recently got a new keyboard... OH MY GOODNESS!!! It rox... it's the new Microsoft Natural Multimedia Keyboard... WOW... it's like got all the right buttons... the arrow keys are again nice and big... and it does everything!!!
Check it: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/keyboard/nmmk_info.asp |

Got to love Wireless :) ... though I'd go for a 19" Philips flanked by two 17" Viewsonic G771's personally |

Yeah wireless is the only way forward, nothing more annoying than a tangled mouse cable ...
I'm on my second now, as the last one didn't appreciate the fine wine it was soaking in :( |

I like the old ones.. (MS Natural) but the newer naturals have the funky arrow keys (all small and bunched up) and I realy loved my Natural Pro keyboard, but the keys clicked somewhat and the buttons were blue on a beige keyboard... (did love the USB hub built in though)... but this keyboard is smooth running... the keys flow.. the colors are nice (match the rest of my peripherals) and you get 2 times as mnay function keys that are programmable! :) hehe |

I've got a bunch of different keyboards on different machines, and I like something different about each one. For a while, I was nuts about finding one of the old-style IBM keyboards with tactile response, and priced them at about US $180+. But then I found a bunch of them on sale at a furniture liquidator here in SF and bought one for about five bucks.
It was nostalgic to have one again, but I don't use it on my main machine. I then chose to a Dell Professional keyboard, which is kind of nice, but the keys are a bit noisy. On some other machines, I'm using the Dell soft touch or quiet, can't remember what they call it, and it's almost as productive as the professional, but not as noisy.
I keep hoping for a setup whereby I could type on a small globe in each hand, which would allow me to vary my hand and arm position, but it seems that day is still far off.
So for now, I'll stick to my optical mice and various keyboards and maybe try one of these newfangled things for a change. |

I'm using this keyboard along with an optical mouse at home. http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/keyboard/ok_info.asp
What I like about this one is that if I'm eating with my right hand, I can use the scroll wheel on the left side of the keyboard as well as the back button so I don't get Doritos crumbs on my mouse. Sometimes I remember to switch to my left hand for when I'm on the computer.
I have a MS Natural keyboard at work. I'm not sure if I like the standard layout or the natural layout best. It took me a while to get used to the Natural one, though! |

Watch Out!! Wireless keyb's transmit your keystrokes (and passwords and cc-number by extension) to all around you. HP have admitted a problem where the wireless keyb's are so powerful they can be picked up in adjoining *buildings* sometimes.
So yes I love my cordless optimouseydoodah (from trust.com - very cool, sometimes misses its contacts in the recharging cradle, but a joy to use and has 5 buttons - the side ones are customisable - i use em for copy and paste), but would be cautious about a cordless keyb :-)

Keyboards don't get moved around, so they don't have to be wireless IMO. And if the keyboard is too far away from the computer for it to connect, get an extra cable. A mouse... well if I had to get one, it'd defenately be cordless and optical, probably the Logitech one I gave the URL of in Davio's mouse topic
The only problem I have with keyboards is that once I'm used to a natural keyboard (I have an Acer natural keyboard with built-in mouse pad hooked up to my PC) I always have a hard time getting used to a normal keyboard again, especially when it's a notebook keyboard, or vice versa. |
