I've been looking for a new host with a bit of bandwidth and space. I love my current host Crystaltech.com, their support and uptime is second to none, but I either need to consolidate some of my domains into a single account with a lot of space, or find a new host for a growing community site.

Here are some things I'm looking at. I'm hoping some others have heard some sort of news about these hosts, reviews, or whatnot. Things I need, good control panel, stats log, Static IP and/or multiple domain names, e-mail. I use Snitz for nearly anything forum related (i even have used Huw's portal and Serverhackers Portal), so ASP is definatly the way to go, but I also want to play with PHP some. Here's some hosts I found

http://www.webworkzcentral.com/index.php/page/gold_hosting_account

http://www.datastreamusa.com/CompareHosting.html

http://www.eznetideas.com/services/hosting/nt_standard.asp

I'm also thinking about ReadyHost.com, simply because they are so darn cheap. But I don't want cheapness to frustrate me later on with no support and constatn problems. I hear alot about slowdowns.

eznetideas is hosted by CIhost (look at their whois record) anytime you see "NS.PROPAGATION.NET" beware!

I have an account with CI Host and at one point I had a lot of troubles. Things have been running smoothly for a few months now and one thing you can say about them is that they are dirt cheap. But customer service is not their priority.

I also have an account with them. so far so good. problem is that they seems bo be more expert in unix based system but not nt ones. My impression of them is that their nt support staff are not so happy.

Do they actually have a bad reputation or in any other troubles?

Back when Code Red was an issue their servers were an excellent breeding ground for the worm.

If you need a fast site at all times, skip ReadyHosting.
Try http://www.frutzle.com and http://www.rakkoon.com which are my two sites. They're hosted at ReadyHosting, simply because I don't want to spend more money than what I'm paying now. I'll change to another host that won't cost a lot more some time in the future, because 99% of the time I can't up- or download a file decently (have you ever tried downloading a 1MB database at 0.25 kb/s?). It only works halfway decent when everyone in the US sleeps.

No, it's something I've noticed. I can up- and download files just fine during the mornings here in Holland (when it's night in the US), but once people in the US start waking up, I can't do much of anything with FTP on my sites anymore.
The sites themselves are slow almost 24/7 (their own site is usually a lot slower than mine), so you're right if you meant that, but not when it comes to FTP

Well if you need me to kick readyhost in the pants, let me know. They are only a 20 - 30 min drive from me.

Good luck on finding a CT replacement (from a CT user) :) I don't think they exist.

I can backup FrutZle's comments. I do most, if not all, of my uploading late at night. It is faster at that time with a dialup connection, then it is a my office during the daytime via our T1.

lol... I bet they'd cancel my account if you'd do that

They have a policy that says that they offer unmetered bandwidth. That's cool (I know, there's nothing like "unmetered" or "unlimited"), but with the small amount of bandwidth they provide, you can't ever go over 3 GB/month.

Readyhosting isn't a bad host in general. They just have some flaws that make them unsuitable for hosting a site that needs to be speedy and online all the time. I think I've said enough now

Do a search on these boards for those companies - http://www.webhostingtalk.com

Warning: They use inferior forum software that you're used to.
