Okay, who do I have to bribe to get help?

or is this some twisted boys club that I didn't pay my dues for?

consider this a bump

...edit...

Ya know, I'd delete this POS MOD but I've made so many MOD additions and changed so much code that I'm sure I'd ruin what work I have done

To the Creator-

The changes in Post.asp you told us to make seem a bit... impossible how can we change code that isn't there?

I think most people who took interest in this topic have gone to the Snitz Portal topic instead...a much larger project and eernstbmi has seemed to have disappeared for a while...but good luck..

I'm trying to remember who converted it to SQL... I'll keep looking because I have a couple more people wanting it to run on SQL.

Ok... Found it this is on SQL:

A new version is ready to download now.

The following changes has been incorporated:
- DisplayMax in the variable list : The maximum number of topics to display
- Displays full Forum and Topic name when using DisplayMode 0.

Since I'm also working on another small mod to Snitz (Display_Calendar.ASP) I had to move the Include of CONFIG.ASP and INC_FUNCTIONS.ASP to the calling ASP file (see DisplayTest.ASP).

You can download the file from http://www.bmipartners.com/snitz/displayforum.zip.

Best regards,
Erik P. Ernst

Someone know where I can find this ZIP.
The link above seems death !

Well, I've been away for some times now. Too busy with the work that pays my bills. Sorry....

But now back I see that Rob Poretti has gotten tired of waiting and has create a similar add on.

http://forum.snitz.com/forum/link.asp?TOPIC_ID=9493

This add-on does everything mine does and a lot more. He has even done a few things I added to my solution and was ready to release. But now I'm not going do any further modifications to my edition, or to upload the update.

Best regards,
Erik P. Ernst

Hi Erik,

I'm hoping that you're not offended by my release of my version -- I had needed to make numerous changes sometime ago and thought that I'd share it with the Snitz "family".

I hope you feel that "imitation is the better part of flattery" -- I looked at all of the portal/slash/content mods, and I thought your implementation (by passing parameters) was the most flexible and easiest to use. I currently use both your mod and the slash mod on a web site that I'm working on...

Eventhough the code is significantly different, the basic ideas were inspired by your mod, so I thank-you.

I hope you might find it useful yourself -- it is well laid out and documented so it would be easy to modify to your own liking.

Cheers!

I'm not offended in any way. You take some pressure from my shoulders. I thank you.

To me this is what open source is all about: Let's get better programs and code.

And yes I saw that you the only thing you're reusing is some of the parameters.

So let's just close this topic.

Best regards,
Erik P. Ernst

Where can I get this mod? I'm getting an error message when I click the link.

quote:

The modification is used to display content from the forums
in Off Forum pages. I.e. we are using this to setup up forums
where the board of directors in my organization can add the
latest news. This news is then displayed instantly on the
homepage.

Welcome to the new Content Management System - SNITZ!

The code is based on a modified DEFAULT.ASP combined with
elements from TOPICS.ASP.

Download:
http://212.130.84.74/snitz/DisplayForum.ZIP

Demo:
http://212.130.84.74 (The site is not open to our members yet!)

----

Use it by including display.asp to the pages where you want to display
the forum content. Currently there are three diffent diffent main
display modes in the sub.

sub DisplayTopics(fForumID, DisplayMode, tOrder)
' fForumID = the Forum ID of the forum to be displayed
' DisplayMode:
' 0 = Display a list of the Subjects - Links into the Forums Topic
' 1 = Display All Topics (except Closed) with Full Text
' 2 = First displays a list of the Subjects - then on the same pages
' a all the Topics with Internal Links on the Page
' tOrder: Search Order for the Topics
' 0 = By Posted Date
' 1 = By Topics Order field

----
Planned enhancements:
More display modes:
1) Display only the first x lines of the topic
and a link to the forum with the full topic.
2) Display topic with a message that x replies
exists and a button to go to add a new reply.

Best regards,
Erik P. Ernst

02/14/01: Download zip file for updated README.TXT with description of added features and fixes (as descriped in this topic) since first releases.

use "\forum\snitz_forums_2000.mdb" as the connString...that way it will always go to the root/forum/snitz_forums_2000.mdb no matter which directory you're in.
