Is it safe to change the images such as the folder icons by creating my own in Adobe Photoshop, or to REPLACE the current smilies with my own(assuming this is legal)? I would like to make it so that I have animated .gif smilies which I am able to make myself. My question, is would it be safe to upload these provided they have the same file names as the ones replaced and are all relatively low in file size? I am also considering changing my login/out button just because it is "messed up". You can see what I mean at http://www.legionsofazeroth.com/forums/
I also have another question. Is there a way I can edit the post count on the forums so that when I delete a large amount of posts (1k for example) that I can do back and add 1k posts to the post count? I'd really like to number to not be damaged severely by the deleted posts when I clear archives, etc.
Also: What does compacting the database do? I've been afraid to try this feature, because I have no idea what it does.
You can replace the icons and the smilies, and the images no problem with that. Hey, you can change the code and the rest anyway you want, as long as you comply with the copyright, by not changing the parts of the code indicated as not changeable.
Afraid I didn't understand the deletion question.
Compacting the database will rid the database file from some empty unused space that may have been left from deleted database objects, records and such.
