upgrading from a previous version of Snitz to the new version of Snitz takes care of the migration of members, topics, replies, etc in the setup. |

you will not lose you members and topics during the upgrade, only the mods. Make a backup from your database, before you do it. |

You could, in theory, copy the members table (moderators table too probably) and paste it into the new database. Then run setup.asp to make sure all the new fields are in all tables in the database and start your forums. Once you've done that, you'll have to run the Update Forum Counts in the Admin Options, and you might have to set all your members' post counts back to 0 (if that's not done with the Update Forum Counts). |

The easiest way to upgrade is to use your existing database.
First, download a copy of your database to keep as a backup. Next, download a copy of your forum directory to keep as a backup. (you can copy these to a backup forum directory on your site instead of downloading them if you want).
Now, delete all the files from the forum directory but keep the original database file. Upload the new forum files and set up the config to point to your orignal database. Run setup and it should upgrade your database for you. |
