I am very interested in running your forum in "parallel" to see how how it works and for testing purposes before switching over to it as my "production" forum. I was running a version 4 beta Snitz forum this way, it shared the same MySQL database completely and was 100% useable with no problems. Is there anyway to do the same with this version of the forum? I suspect there isn't because of the encryption of user passwords. TIA.
Steve, you would have to update your database to the latest snitz version (3.4.3??), so you probably wouldn't be able to use it with your old one. idea - make a copy of your old database, rename it forum2, then use this for testing. if it works ok you can delete the old forum/database.
download the latest snitz, set config to your forum2, and run setup to update it. download the serverhacker dbs files, go to admin, and install the mods. then download and install the serverhacker code. |

the only thing I didnt do was to "check installation" under admin options I assumed that cuz it was right out of the box it was configured correctly.. Other than that problem I think you're really outdone yourself! well done..
But because there are no other complaints on the same subject I am suspect of my installation.. I will try it again and see if it wasn't just me...
keep up the great work!

Well guys, I figured out the RDF/RSS problems . It had to do with the directory rights of the IIS server my hosting uses. I'll have to contact them to get it working, but for now I'm ripping Mr. Jay Ekles(sp?) links off for the Java Applets. Take a look @ http://www.braham.org to see a working (text is still unformatted) rdf feed.
It is pulling from http://www.hardocp.com/hardocp.rdf
Al_iguana, I tested it initially with your rdf link and it worked. Download the file http://braxta.ff-an.com/RDFmod.zip, If someone could take the newsfeed.asp file and do some formatting to match the Serverhacker Scheme, I would greatly appreciate it.
The only changes that need to be made are in the <head> section of inc_header.asp, and then the obvious changes in newsfeed.asp. You'll have to adjust the directory layout of the java applets to match your hosting. I included all the .java files so you can modify them if needed, but its best not to put them on the server, as they really arent used. only the .js and .class files are needed.
And to think, I completed this work from a Macintosh. I wouldnt have thought it possible
<edit> ive updated the zip file to include some very rough formatting, as well as updating the inc_header to serverhackers latest version (7 i think). It has some html issues, but it will get me by for a day or two till theres more time. Documentation has now been added.
to add support for a shoutcast feed, it will require some hands on java work, but its pretty straight forward. might get around to it eventually. If anyone would like to make this into a full on mod, which stores rdf paths in the database (and is configurable via the admin interface), youre welcome to it... i think it would be nice to be able to install this as a mod and then put an inc rdffeed.asp wherever you want to use it. </edit>

This would be perfect if the Ban User by IP and Ban with Cookie mods were added. |

Great job. Only one thing I'm trying to change for my site. I don't want the "Home" on the dropdown menu to go back to sitenews.asp, but that seems to be hardcoded somewhere and I can't find where. I checked the inc_header and config files, but can't find where you're pulling those menus from. Any help? Thanks. |
