The inc_websearch.asp also had problems...no errors, but the coder had mixed vb response.write syntax in the HTML rather than embedding tags (in two places). Search for "Web Search" twice (I am on my laptop and don't have line numbers) and replace the font tag directly above that to:
<font size="4" color="<%=StrHeadFontColor%>">
This caused the heading of this module to look Normal rather than bold.
All this modded version needs is a chat mod. I think I might work on that. I saw post a while back on one. Any one implemented a chat mod?
I am thinking of a mod to the news feed to let the user add there favorite news query/category to their profile. Looked fairly easy.
Great job serverhacker! |

I'm very excited to finally have somewhat working S.H. site! I'm testing it now, with a previous Snitz 3.4 upgraded database.
http://12.222.211.6/hopesprings/forum/sitenews.asp
I'm getting a database error when I try to reply or goto the Smiles Admin page:
Error Type: Microsoft JET Database Engine (0x80040E10) No value given for one or more required parameters. /hopesprings/forum/inc_smilies.asp, line 103.
I substitued the default dbase and the error went away, so it's a problem with my updated dbase. I reran the dbs MOD updates (redownloaded after .06 update) from a Snitz 3.4.03 server to be sure I'd done it.
Only problems reported were the table already exists thing and "-2147467259 | The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again." on the Mod Flash and Custom Avatar.
I've seen this error on the forum, but the fix wasn't posted. (Or I missed it.)
IDEAS??
Also I don't have the nice three tone rounded borders and page on page look like on this site and the test site. What do I need to do to get this affect? It's beautiful. I found the table borders images for corners, but I haven't found the way to differentiate the colors outside and inside those corners. I can get the corners to appear by copying the images into the images folder, but it just gives me points, not the inverse rounded edges. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.
Thanks so much to everyone for the help and great code!

The first issue I'm seeing is my drop down menus are about a line too low on the horizontal graphic bar, such that you can't really see or read them. Any ideas how to fix this? http://12.222.211.6/hopesprings/forum/sitenews.asp
I'm a newbie here too - and with Snitz too. Can I suggest that you read all the posts in this thread before you ask questions like this though? (I'm not having a go btw).
Anyway, the answer is that you need to modify the absLEFT and absTOP vaiables in /resources/custom.asp.

does anyone know why the highlighted date in the calender on the frontpage is a different colour from the highlighted date on the calender at the bottom of the forum?? (check my site for example). i think the frontpage calender is using search_highlight colour to highlight, but the forum calender is not. how do i change it so the frontpage calender uses the same highlighting as the forum calender.

Andy...THANKS for the help! Worked perfectly! I guess I overlooked it. Lots of info between here and S.H.'s support forum to sift through. Don't always get the right search words either.
I removed that part of my previous post, so no one else has to waste time on me. |

yeah i did that, the calender on my forum is how i want it. however, the calender on sitenews.asp uses inc_events.asp to display, and its on there that the hightlight colour is wrong. that bit was written by Serv, which is why i'm asking on here.
thanks anyhow |

Hello. Just make sure that <!--#INCLUDE FILE="cal_style.asp"--> appears whenever the calendar is on the page. |

it happens on Serverhacker's site too.
http://www.serverhacker.com/
check the calender on the frontpage. the date is highlighted in grey. then go to the forum, and the calender at the bottom has the date highlighted with just a box. this is how i want the frontpage to be. cal_style is included in his frontpage code (inc_events) and it is included in default.asp (via cal_default.asp). so they should be the same. but they aren't. probably inc_events.asp is doing something that over-rides cal_style. i don't know, i'll check. |

its ok, i fixed the calender problem. it was in inc_events.asp:
line 87 says:
Drawmonth dateHolder,1,1,1
the first 1 means "draw highlight". i set it to 0 and the bright highlight is gone.
Drawmonth dateHolder,0,1,1
one to add to the faq |

Speaking of FAQs. I recall a FAQ mod that allowed adding/removing and FAQs for different levels of users. That would be a great addon to this modded version. |
