Well that did help. It now works with Netscape and the size is about right. The link colors and default text colors still don't work.
I wonder if it would be possible to get an option so that it would look like the following. This what I'm am really trying to get to. I have been staring blankly at the computer for days now :-)

maybe the above is to much to ask.
Sorry to be a pest but this is the last mod before I turn the updated Forum live.
Here is where I am at:
- I can't change the font size and color. It's to big. I tried to change the forum thinking that it would change the content display on the front page but that did not work I even tried to change the font and color inside the post but it still did not change it. In fact if I change the color in the post it will not even show up in the mod on the front page. I tried to change the font on the forum put the original inc_header.asp back in an still it did not change the look. - If I make the SubjectLength any longer then 50 it distorts the page, but 50 is not enough because it does not show enough of the subject
Here is a link to the front page
http://www.funinbc.com/index1.asp
here is a link to the forum
http://funinbc.com/funforum/forum/default.asp the username is snitz pasowrd is snitz
I really do appreciate your help!!!!

Here's a good tip: When things go wrong with formatting one of your best tools is viewing the source of your page to see what is there. It's often not what you expect. You have 2 sets of HTML headers. There is a good chance your homepage has the headers stuff and under that you included inc_header.asp. Or you have another header above it. Something extra is there.

I am not sure what you mean. I look at the source and I only have one header and that looked ok. Should this not be in the header?
<!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/funforum/forum/config.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/funforum/forum/inc_func_secure.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/funforum/forum/inc_sha256.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/funforum/forum/inc_header_nohtml.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/funforum/forum/content.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="/funforum/forum/inc_contentdisplay.asp" -->
I have taken the above and moved it below the header and still the same thing
I just setup a new test page with nothing but this mod and it is still doing the same thing
here is the link to the test page

I think my eyes are starting to bug out ..... LOL |

As you can see in the test page it pulls the background color over but NOT the font size, color and constraints.
I am using CSS on www.funinbc.com/index1.asp to fool the page because the mod changes all the fonts and background. The odd thing is if I change the forum colors the mod does not pick up the changes so now i don't know where to look.
@tomic if you could make me a Mod option exactly like the layout I posted a few posts back. I would be willing to donate to your website if you have Paypal set up. My website is just a non-profit club site but I am getting really frustrated.
I have looked at the code for Jeepaholics.com Mod but it is totally different. I can't see how he makes it work. |

I'm sorry funinbc but for the next few weeks I will not have time for this. I can look at it after the New Year, maybe after Xmas, but not before.
To make all your fonts and links harmonious make sure, now that you are using config.asp outside your forum, to use forum style font definitions on everything on your homepage(strDefaultFontFace,strDefaultFontColor etc). One thing to consider also is that the Content Display safe mode uses forum formatting meaning it will use forum link color and text color etc. Try messing with the safe modes.

Ok thanks @tomic I wont ask any more questions until the new year. I did try the safe modes but they are still not confined to JUST the content mod they take over the whole page. With CSS I can change the color of the page fonts but not the size.
Another big problem is I can't get the size of the messages to be more then a setting length of 20 without distorting the page so you cant read the messages.
Hey I see you are in Bellevue WA. If you are in need of a 4X4 adventure Come up to Vancouver. We are about 10 min from the border. |

Heh, cool. I plan to head up there some weekend to try and catch the northern lights with all the extra geomagnetic activity this should be a good year. I sure wish I could live up there. Vancouver is probably my favorite city.

Great we are heading out most weekends and when you do come up I could meet you at the boarder. Check out the site www.funinbc.com for the up-to-date trips. Winter we do mostly day runs but in a few weeks we are going camping with a cabin wall heated tent.
Send me an e-mail when you can make it!! |

I know @tomic is busy but can anyone tell me what this error is?
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01c2'
Wrong number of arguments or invalid property assignment: 'WritePostingDetails'
/funforum/forum/content.asp, line 383
I only get it when I select option "3" called:
3 = Detailed: Displays topics with message & details next to topic link
Here is my string <% DisplayContent 0, 0, 2, 3, 0, 6, 200, 40, 5, 0, 1, 0, "Recent posts", 291, "topic.asp" %>
line 383 of my content.asp look like:
Call WritePostingDetails()

Hmmmm, I am using that display Mode on my site without that error and my line 383 is a few dozen lines from where yours seems to be. Are you sure you have the latest copy?

I have downloaded from both links on page one and line 383 on the context.asp display reads the same. Where can I get the lastest copy of content.asp ? Could you send it to me?

OK I went live with this mod but somthing odd happened. It's reading the new forum but the link still goes to the old test site. I notice that the Icons are not displaying as well.
This is what was at the top of the test page in the test site:
<!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="funforum/forum/config.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="funforum/forum/inc_func_secure.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="funforum/forum/inc_sha256.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="funforum/forum/inc_header_nohtml.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="funforum/forum/content.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="funforum/forum/inc_contentdisplay.asp" -->
When I went Live I change it to:
<!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="forum/config.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="forum/inc_func_secure.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="forum/inc_sha256.asp"--> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="forum/inc_header_nohtml.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="forum/content.asp" --> <!--#INCLUDE VIRTUAL="forum/inc_contentdisplay.asp" -->
All the links are still pointing to the old test site. I looked through every file I could think of but I can't find how to point to the new directory.
here is a link to the site:

Ok I have done everything I can think of. I've opened every .asp file to see if there html link that was bad with no luck.
Is it possible that this is happening because when I updated the database my directory was called /funforum/forum/ then I moved it over to just the root of: /fourm
Do I or can I can change the database info to point to the new location?
