Hi, Is it possible to give a moderator the ability to validate registration requests without giving them full admin access??
Thanks again

not easily, no. It would require a good bit of code modification.... |

But to my knowledge you could upgrade a moderator to admin in the new version because there's is a superadmin now. Maybe something to check. |

There are only two things (that I know of) that the "admin" level can't do: edit the profile of other admins and run the mod_db_setup. Everything else is fair game... |

Admins can edit eachothers profiles, but not the profile of the "super admin" whose member ID is hard coded in config.asp. Other than that your answer is correct Dave It seems I am wrong. Back when 3.4 was still in RC1 status, Nathan and I were both admin on a demo forum and modified eachother's profiles. Since then I hadn't had the chance to test this until now (on SnitzBitz) and it turns out you are right. |

I am pretty sure I am using the latest version as I only downloaded it 3 days ago? I cannot see anywhere to make myself superadmin and the moderator admin?
3.4.02 is the version I am using - just checked. Is the super admin on here?
Apologies for all the questions but we all have to learn somewhere!!
Thanks again |

Good topic and thanks for the "Const intAdminMemberID = 1" saves me from asking, but I do want to add one question...
Why before I was able to stay admin and not have to log in all the time.. were the way cookies are managed changed? I seem to have to enter name/password much more often if I need admin tools then before..

I think that this is because of security , so if anyone copies your cookies, he/she won't have access to all admin options, he will have to enter the pwd which he doesn't have it... |

Have a look at config.asp. Around line #78, you'll find this:
Const intAdminMemberID = 1
Replace that value 1 by your memberId.
Hmm - That line shows number 1 - That is MY admin number so does that mean that I am superadmin?
The reason I ask is that I want the moderator to be able to approve membership etc in my absence but do not wish to give them full access to all the admin options - I trust em, just not that much!!!!
Is this not gonna be possible???!!
Thanks for all the help so far.. |

No, moderators do not approve memberships. They need to get access to the admin options to approve members, so you can't have both things... unless you changed the Snitz code, of course. |

How do you set it up so that the Administrator has to approve the members before they can activate their accounts? Obviously one wouldn't be sitting at the "pending members" screen constantly hitting refresh, so there must be a way in there somewhere -- I just can't find it! (Sorry, I'm a bit new at this.)
Thanks, JoJo
