Here is where a nice little PM could be used to minimize bickering and encourage productice discussion.
What is productive discussion anyway? Does it lead to productivity? We have some really talented people here, who are willing to contribute. Why exclude them when they could be Snitz's greatest strength? |

who's excluding anyone? If you want to change the way this forum looks on your own site, no one is stopping you. |

I totally agree with Richard. If someone want to customize Snitz Forums then he can do it.
The thing is that most people just need a forums solution that installs in seconds, looks great, and does not break. Personally I think that Snitz Forums have all of the above elements. But even if I want to charge the look a bit, it's a matter of creativity and time. It's not that difficult to change the inv_header.asp and inc_footer.asp just to put the forums into a different design. But then I am a developer/programme myself and I can do it. If you check Snitz Forums installations someone can find excellent layouts.
I think that the people at Snitz should focus on the actual code of the forum and leave the layout stuff for those who have the cretivity and desire to make something unique.
regards, Dimitris

Nope, but do try and search the forums first before raising a subject thats been already raised hundreds of times over.
Perhaps look at the hall of fame also and see what others have done with this forum. |

it is a combination of a few forums... The vBulletin classic layout, the snitz style navigation - added with a bit of inspiration (the collapsable replies and what not)...
but that fact is that the coding is fast, simple, effective, no-repetative, properly layed out, properly commented which is a lot more than that of other asp forums....cant for the life of me remember which one i downloaded.
Im not a designer, far from it - web coder, rather than developer...but because of the above if a template was designed for it the forums could be matched to a WHOLE new template in less than a day...
*anyone got some chalk?* ;) |

I say, if you don't like snitz move on. Its free, GPL, and you can change it ANY way your heart desires. I started working on a asp based forums about the same time the asp-dev team released their codebase. I worked with that for a while and thought improvements could be made. I gave it up because about the time I would have something coded a new feature or the like the snitz guys had it done. So, I just moved to snitz and customized it as needed. I have been running snitz on internal sites for quite a while and have re-written chunks of it to suit the needs of the company or me. Personally, snitz is easy enough to setup for novice users powerful enough to run a good size forum and open enough to modify it to fit any need. Does it have XYZ option that blahblah board has? Nope, has it been modded to include it maybe. Will it ever be like blahblah board? Nope. Personally I'm glad it is just the way it is. You arn't trying to make the board "better" you are just trying to get it the way YOU want it. Hell, look at what HuwR has done with magicmushroom!

As far the chalk goes, most snitzers have lot of it. Get your board up with snitz. Use your chalk and whenever you loose all of yours (chalk), ask for help here. |

I still don't see what point you are making. Some of us have sites that allow members to choose a new template in seconds while you say it takes all day. Have you even looked at 3.4? The code is much, much simpler than previous versions. Changing layout is extremely easy and for you being a coder and all you must know already.
