I'm not sure, but it's something you could try. There are also a couple of other MODs, including Content Display MOD, that may help you work around this.

quote: I was getting invalid number of arguments on line 54, variable ChkDate.
Was that with the previous version for v3.3? That particular line was one of the few lines I've changed to update to v3.4, but I changed it slightly differently to <%=ChkDate(rs.Fields("T_Date")," At ",true)%> in this version.

Hi, I was wondering if you could have multiple News forums...Such as: You have one page that displays like Political News and another that displays Medical news. Is this possible? |

I did that on my page: http://www.billbitsmart.com/
Do the same thing all over again but with a different name For example: (eg. strNews2Forum_ID), add the extra lines to config.asp and admin_home.asp using that new name. After that make a newspage called inc_news2.asp. greetz, bill |

Alex, the link is gone...and says "Available to previous MOD author". Is something going on that requires my help?
My home machine that also serves as my email server took a dive, so if you sent me email I probably didn't get it. Let me know.

Dan should have a copy now if he want's to distribute it. There's also the Content Display MOD that does something similar.

Dan,
Has anything progressed on this yet....? I'm hanging out for a 3.4.01 version, which apparently is finished, working, but can't be downloaded anywhere.... if I ask really nicely...? Hands and knees, that sort of thing...?

I've bodged something together from Alex's comments on the other thread, so not sooooo worried now, but I daresay I've done it in my usual hamfisted way, and all you super modders would do it soooo much better....

I have an error when using with MySQL. It is a db connection type error that appears on line 33 in inc_news.asp:
quote: rs.open strSql, my_conn, 3
Thanks |

Is there maybe a cut-off at which Alex might think to release his version, if Dan isn't in a position to ratify the changes?
This issue seems to be ongoing with no hint that there's going to be any change...

well I have tried to contact Dan via his email which seems to not be in use any more. I have posted treads or in various forum topics that deal with this. And I have tried to make changes myself but nothing has seemed to work. It is like walking into a brick wall. I have therefore given up for now on the news mod which seem to be very good and a must have for every web site.
I am very distressed about how this has all turned out and think that this could be avoided in future
I will however post the problems and errors that I got trying to update the mod in the topic of the original mod and see if I get any feedback, which I doubt because there have post that have not been answered to this date. For all we know Dan might have passed away.
