When I upgrade from 3.5, is this all I need to do... :
Upload all of the new files to the directory /forums/ except for config.asp and the new database file.
Do I need to backup the database since I already have it on my harddrive, would I be able to just NOT upload the new database at all, and just keep the old database up there?
I was wondering if it was required to upload the new database, and just upload all the components I need to upload (except for config).
Also: Since I have the config.asp file, and I used the IP MOD with my 3.5, do I need to take out the areas of config where it says IP BAN MOD?
Thanks. |

If you have an updated copy of your 3.3.05 database you do not need to download it. I would advise you to download your current config.asp, so that you can easily copy the value of your connection string.
So, to install the new forum, extract Snitz 3.4.01 to a new folder in your computer. Copy the value of the connection string from your old config.aso to the new one. Also change the value of strDBType in the new config, so that you set it to:
strDBType = "access"
Save the config.asp from the new download after you have done this. Delete all files from Snitz 3.3.05 from the /forums folder at your web site. Upload all files from Snitz 3.4.01, including your just changed config.asp and then run setup.asp. When asked the version you want to upgrade from specify 3.3.05 and it will be done. |

Problem...
When running setup.asp, it SAID at the bottom "The setup has completed without errors!", yet there was an error that said:
quote: Error: 80040E37 Table 'FORUM_MEMBERS_PENDING' does not exist. strUpdateSql: DROP TABLE FORUM_MEMBERS_PENDING
Everything seems to be working fine though, EXCEPT my link colors. For some reason the visited link colors are blue, when it says they are set to sienna.
Another problem: What's with my login button? It's really, really weird looking. |

When I right click on the button it says the source it's getting it from is Default.asp... I also can't seem to fix the link colors... anyone else having/had this problem? Bright blue looks really horribly on tan...
Thanks for the help about the installation, again. =)
***CHANGE*** Very weird, in netscape it looks fixed.
***CHANGE*** Ok... now I just did "Check Installation" and it messed up again??? |

Well, I actually found out how to fix the link colors, didn't know of the added color option with 3.4, =).
However, see that login button? It looks pretty messed up, it's supposed to have some kind of white background behind it, instead of cutting most of the background out (on the login logout) button.
Well, I guess I can "live" with that... but I was wondering whether you could clarify something else for me.
(I'm really, really sorry I'm having so many questions, this should be my last)
In the FAQ for admins, it says "Prohibit New Members? Toggles between allowing or disallowing people to Register on your Forum. "
Does this mean that nobody can register no matter WHAT, or that it will send an e-mail to me asking for authorization?
Thank you very much! |

No one will be able to register if you have that set to On, as simple as that.
You can approve all member registrations by setting Restrict Registration at the Email Server Configuration Admin Option to On. If you want this one to work, you also you need to have Email Validation set to On. With Restrict Registration On you need to approve all members registration before the confirmation email is sent to them.

And how does the sticky topic work... can't seem to find it.
If you have it enabled at the Admin Options->Feature Configuration, then you can just check the adequate check box, below the message window, when you create the topic, or you can change a topic to Sticky (or normal if it is sticky) in forum.asp. |
