The only option i see in the Admin Options is for Number of sub categories per user. This is set to 5 at the moment.
If i as an admin create a bew category, it is only displayed in my configuration.
What i was after was an option for it to be displayed another level up (so ALL user will have the option to see it). So when you goto the Photo_album.asp page it will show (under the [FORUM TITLE] Photo Album, Main Album, Cat 1, Cat 2 etc).
At the moment, all i see on photo_album.asp is the Main Album link.

Hope this makes more sense. If not, then ignore this request. I will keep my current setup (which uses a different system and does what i want, i just wanted a version that was integrated better with Snitz ).

If you display the number of photos by the user name that is another database call and or db modification to the existing structure. I don't know if its worth it for a seemingly cosmetic issue.

No worries, was just a thought thrown around

If you don't want users names to show who don't have albums don't give them an album account. I may add an admin option to check and see if users have uploaded any files and if not allow you to remove their album in bulk kinda like the inactive users mod.

If there is no account for the user, how can they create one? The only way i can see is if they contact the Admin to create one for them. Is this the correct method?
If so, is there a way to auto allow members their own directory (with a switch to make it moderated or not, for those that want more control).

Be careful when you start playing with the formatting it can be much more complex than you realize. depending on the album mode whether you are an admin or not can effect what you see and how it is laid out. I have been sent several diffrent modifications to the album and the way it displays and all of them have had errors in some way shape or form. I am currently documenting the album so people that want to modify it more have a better chance of doing so without breaking something.

Aye, i know about formating issues . Have had plenty of problems with my own site over the past months. Its just that the current setup is very messy, and i just wanted to integrate it more with my current site.

I am almost done fixing the last of the bug reports new files should be up later tonight or tomorrow.

Excellent

if you are talking about single album mode, it is tied directly to the admin or "owner" account for snitz so if you add more categories to the admin account they will show up in single album mode.

Well, contacting the admin and having you make it is the only method. They are not added when they sign up to the forums. This is a request that I am working on now. Admins can add all users in bulk that currently don't have an album account through the admin options.
All users get thier own directory whether the album is in single or multi user mode. You can turn on admin approval in the admin options now.

Thank you - this is exactly what i was after.
At the moment, none of my categories are showing (not even for the users) although it is increasing the category count.
However, this is on my test space, which is a different server to my live site (which is down atm). I will give it another go shortly, and if there is still a problem, i will post here again.

Did you add the administrator as a album user?

Status Update:

I am taking my time to release the next version of the album. Currently I have fixed a ton of layout issues and cleaned up the look of the album as much as my ablilites will allow and based on suggestions from others :)
I am re-working the administration of the album seperating it from the main album pages and moving them to the admin options like they should be in the first place. I am also cleaning up the user administration quite a bit making it easier to clean up user accounts and maintain user base. I am using part of the inactive users mod to do this.
I am not adding any real new features just doing a HUGE cleanup on it.
I am also testing like crazy to make sure I have all the bugs worked out due to spaces in names and file names to make sure it all works properly.

If there are any bugs currently unresolved please post or send me an mail and I will post a fix for that bug on the old code base.

Cheers,

Wes

Wes,

I've got v1.50 working on my site! YES!!! A suggestion, if I may add, please ensure that an UNINSTALL/Upgrade Procedure is in the MOD's README when your next version comes out. I can't wait to see it!

Hurm... The readme.txt that came with the zip file should have covered it. I'll make sure it is as clear as possible.

Hey Wes, I have installed your mod to my forums and have a question that I didn't see listed throughout all 7 pages.

Is there a way to to set a standard quota of images for certain members. Say Administrators and Moderators are allowed more images than the fixed number of images for standard members. I guess point blank, can you specify a number of images Per User?

Nope!

No one to date has requested the feature. I'll look into it.

Still hoping to see a photo album as powerful as this http://www.photopost.com/indexpro.html for Snitz This is the best photo album, the only problem is that it is designed for PHP forums not ASP... burthold you might be able to get ideas from this and lead your application in that direction... maybe ? you have a very good foundation here.

Well... One, it is based on PHP and Linux that gives it a HUGE edge as far as external tools available to them for free. My album shares alot of the same features I am currently redesigning all the pages for layout and useability. I think it is going to be a nice improvement to the album. I am also working on the next set of additions to the album like searches. There is no way to do batching of file uploads throught the user interface but I have been working on the ability to add files via ftp and then go to the admin section and process new images. The album may eventually be something as powerful as photo post but not today was there any feature you needed that isn't in the current album? I would love to be able to charge 149 bucks for it too!

Your plans for redesigning page layout/useability sound great. How about user ratings ? User comments ? display Recent pictures ? display Most popular pictures ?

Is there anyway to set it up similar to Photo Post so that different categories look like forums ? I think that way it'll fit nicer in Snitz forums. Then think of each picture as a forum topic and maybe user comments can be thought of as replies to that topic.

I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas at you.

Well...if you spend enough time and get somewhere with this, who says you can't charge 149 bucks for it? I know I'm willing to pay someone that amount to get a nice photo album application that integrates nicely with Snitz! AND I'm definitely not the only one...

Because its released under the GPL that says I can't charge 149 bucks for it. No plans for user ratings, comments, or display most popular. Maybe display most recent. I won't rewrite the whole album to look like forums I think HuwR and others have already built a file attachement mod and you can link images into threads directly. If you need the functionallity of that album I would suggest moving over to a PHP based board and buy that album I will not just labor to reproduce someone elses work.

Cheers,
Wes

What if I like the functionality of that album AND the functionality of Snitz ? PHP forums suck! there has to be a way to get the same functionality with ASP & Snitz. I'm just messing with you Wes, you are doing a good job on your application, keep up the good work!

Lol, I take everything with a grain of salt. Your not the first person to show me a diffrent album and asked me to "make that for snitz" I'll keep plugging along and see what ends up happening.
