I've read the many posts, re: v3.4 v. current version, but wasn't quite able to determine if I should continue modifiying my forum and just wait for 3.4 to come out.
My biggest concern is what will be happening to the current files... Why? I am in the middle of completely converting the forum to CSS. Will all the files need to be replaced to accomodate the new version? or just the config/set up files?
I've kept a log of all my modifications to my forum and was wondering if someone could take a look at the log and tell me if I should just wait for v3.4 to come out before continuing with my conversion to CSS and then make the other modifications I currently have. http://www.etelligent.com/_SnitzModsUsed.txt
With that said.... if I convert v3.4 to CSS, then what about v4; will I need to start the CSS conversion over? |

Dude, if you've read the literally thousands of posts, you know that the moderators are under extreme pressure right now trying to prepare 3.4 for release to the public. I, as much as anybody, am greatly looking forward to its release.
I'm not a coder, but I've read in the posts that v 4.0 should be based on 3.4, with, as I understand it, more internationalization.
3.4 is vastly different from 3.3.x. You should NOT add any MODs yet, unless of course, you want to add them again later. Many people have asked this question, and the standard answer is that pretty much none of the current MODs will work with 3.4, because 3.4 is using a totally different method of sending info to the browswer.
If you're a mad ASP coder, you could probably do whatever you wanted. If you're like the rest of us, you'll probably have to wait.
I think here the old adage applies:
If you have to ask, wait. |

As one "Erin" to another "Aaron," I'm just trying to help. I know the moderators are busy now. I know you know that too, I've read a lot of your posts.
And it's not caffeine that's got me going now...
And I bet you didn't even see my other post... |

What I'm trying to estiblish is the compatibility of v3.4 w/ v4.
If I convert v3.4 to full CSS, is there a high likelyhood that v4 will require complete file replacement to make the upgrade? or will there be an opportunity to make the upgrade w/o major file replacement? |

You surely need to replace all files with the upgrade from v3.4 to v4, since the internationalisation has been added. |
