Would it be posible to just send one message with a whole buncha email addresses in the BCC line (that way they don't get eachothers addresses) instead of sending an individual email for each recipient.

Probably not possible for all email componants, but it could help on some of them.

That won't work as some email servers block emails that are sent using the BCC field. Thinking it must be spam.

the main problem with subscriptions, was not the mail server primarily, but more to do with page locking on the db while it
was doing it.

The changes in the 3.4 code should aleviate this problem.
