I installed the mod and then the directions say:
""After completing that, proceed to copy over the Email Validation code into your forum files. Please do not overwrite your files.""
What exactly does this mean? What do I do?

All it means is that you should find the new code in the files provided and copy and paste it into your version of the file. This is recomended because you may have other mods installed, or the files provided witht the mod may be out of date.
Just look for the new code, and insert it into your files, being careful to find all the changes, so as erros are avoided later on.
Normally the mod maker tells you what to search for in the code so you can find the changes eaisly.

The mod should contain instructions on what files you need to change, and how you need to change them, indicating what code needs to be added and where, and what code needs to be replaced and where. Just follow each of these instructions.

No, all it says is: ""After completing that, proceed to copy over the Email Validation code into your forum files. Please do not overwrite your files.""
So I don't know what I need to edit.

The readme I had says
The code is commented out in each file so you don't have to search for the code differences. Look for the comment '############ Email Validation Mod ################# in each of the files.

Are you getting any specific error messages?
