<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> Ok, heres what I have so far... let me know what you think... its all hooked into my forum and allows you to test the 3 different ways of display as well as the variable number of topics shown and character length.
Now... eventually I will integrate the three new fields into the config db and add the controls to the features section of the snitz admin. Its all setup to work with the new Mod Commander (Awesome BTW) so when done you can slip it right in.
Try it out and see what you think... there is very little formatting since I have not integrated the color preferences of the board into it yet (although I may just leave it like this so you can easily integrate into the remote page you intend to show it on. In which case the forum colors could be unflattering).
Ok.. enough stalling, try it out and let me know the holes.

This is cool! Is there anyway you can make it so we can define the table size as well. BTW can you post your code for this as well as the whole code for the slash.asp page. Some of us are getting errors trying to get this to work.
Awesome work! <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thanks... as for the html formatting.. I was figuring on leaving it customizable IN the code, that way, like me, you do it as an include and put it where you need it and it allows you to format, size and color however you wish... like me where I set to a CSS sheet on the existing page that I will use it.
Code coming up for this page, currently you can use it as is and it will default to 5 posts, 150 chars and latest topics. You can go into the code very easily and see where the variables are.

BTW mot... Lets see you get onto the manifest at paratrooper.net, there is not enough foriegn jumpers on the site and I really want to fix that. Eventually want to have sections dedicated and break off parts of the manifest so countries get grouped.

Rigger,
I am a ex-tanker and a member of one of the first COHORT units. My unit was the first unit to introduce M1 Abrams Tanks to South Korea. I guess I'm ex-leg as your site suggests a lot lol. Anyway I was reading your forum on the Black Beret. It really is a shame, I hope you guys get a huge response from all the e-mails you been sending the Brass and VIP's on this issue. Good Luck to you and your members. Sorry Snitz users, I know this is a little off the topic so to make you guys happy here's another question for Rigger... If I get you right you plan on implementing the mod commander in the Admin part of Snitz?

HeHe! That would be mech-LEG! and BTW I am a DoD Civillian now. That might be worse than a LEG now that I think about it LOL! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> If you guys ever need a ride just let the mech-LEGS know. They may just help you out when those Jumping LPC's get worn out. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> STRIKE FAST KICK*****

Mark! Great job on this, thanks a ton! I did some modifications to it to fit the way I want it on my own site... My setup displays the top 2 of each of the categories you programmed and is formatted a bit differently.
Seems to have one bug. In the statistics it doesn't show the number of posts in the forum. Says, "15 members have made posts in 4 forums" when it should say something more like, "15 members have made XXX posts in 4 forums". The <%= Posts %> code exists, but just doesn't seem to be pulling the data? Thoughts?
Again, thanks! Love the work you and AnimeDJ have done! Check out mine here: http://www.jeepaholics.com/default.asp

Very cool. I had not thought of showing all three views at the same time but in your layout it works well.
I will look into that bug (actually, I was thinking of making the display of stats optional anyway).
There is plenty still to be done to streamline the mod so any and all help is appreciated.

Well, I'd give you my version but it's total clugy code! <grin> I don't know ASP coding very well, but I'm learning. All I did was cut and past your code 3 times in a row. I'm sure there's a cleaner way to do a routine that runs through the same code 3 times with different number/length values for each one. Anyway, I'll post it if you want but it's not much other than formatting and a cut/paste mess! I like your idea of having lots of options. Is there an easy way to link someone's name to the post? Al

Thanks for the offer but dont worry about it. As for the names... I am looking into it but the more tables and joins, the longer it takes for it to run and since its an include, I want to keep it pretty quick. I may even toy with some Stored Procedures so that the include itself would be pretty small.
I am integrating it into the admin (features) page so you can set it automatically from within the admin and it saves in the db.
Hoping to have that part done later today.

I am on an NT4 box and it all works normally.. make sure your includes all go to the right directory...
Mod commander has mod in it but everything else says mods so I went with that "MODS" should be the subdirectory...
PS. Do other includes work... and what errors are you getting.. can you point me to the page generating the error?
