i'd like to change the syntax of smilies, so you can type: :D, without the brackets and still get the graphic smilie. removing the brackets from the code totally so to say. it shouldn't be a problem just doing a search and replace, but i'd like to know if there are any difficulties involved in this, or if i should think about something in particular before doing anything?
my only comment would be that it limits your options and means you have to use icons since you will no longer be able to just write :) if you don't want to fill your post with images
