I worked with Snitz Forums 2000 v3.1 service release 4 where I translated ("with a litte help from my friends") the language-labels in french and dutch (internationalization).
For security reasons I had to switch to Version 3.3.05
My question: Is all the translation to be redone or is there a way to recover part or all of the translations ?
I would suggest that you use version 4.0Beta. This version is 3.3.05 optimized for translation purposes. I believe there are already french and dutch lang packs, which means you won't have to do any translation.
There you'll find the link to download the 4.0Beta version files. You'll also find a link to a AllPost40b03Patches file. You need to download the base version files, extract them to a folder and then extract the patches files to that folder, over the base version files. The patches are crucial since they have bug fixes and the security patches also.
A little fruther down the topic you will find the links to the Dutch and French lang packs. Download them also. In readme.txt you'll find instructions on how to use the langpacks.
Version 4.0Beta is 3.3.05 with changes to facilitate translation. I use it in my production forum. You can read more about using 4.0Beta in a production environment here: http://forum.snitz.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=30094
