wierd, I recieved two emails notifying me Richard replied :P

Thx richard, mketech, In e_setup.asp run a search for 'Memo' and replace it with 'nText'

Richard there is no limit to the size of the 'text' field type is there? or should I specify one.

no, it's just like memo in access. You don't specify a size.

Thanks for the speedy response! That did the trick.

Please note that I corrected the spelling of 'recieve' to 'receive' and added the 'e' to 'notic<font color=red>e</font id=red>:'

When using the admin_email_messages.asp, it would be nice to see the existing text so it can be edited. Is that possible?

Also, since I'm using NT mode, I'd like to have the <<posted_by>> to use the NTFullName instead of UserName (I'm not sure what the real variable names are though). Can you help me on this?

Thanks again.

Da Stimulator,

Great mod - need to figure out what the trick is to getting spacing in the message so the formatting looks cleaner. Can I use html tags in the boxes for each message to create the spacing or just regular spacing - I did that the first time and it just all ran together. Any info would be appreciated.

I didnt implement any HTML tags, as some users of forums cannot recieve HTML email. Spacing it out ran together? I know line breaks work. (not <br>, just pressing enter)

Thanks for the quick response - I did just use spacing in the text area and now it seems to have broken the notification emails. I tested this out last night and still have not received any notification about the postings in my Test Area. What is the easiest way to revert back to the previous configuration (prior to the mod being run through e_setup.asp).

Any info will help.

Thanks for the info - I have edited the message formats several times in the mod and I am not receiving notifications when I post in a forum/topic as requested. I can not figure out what might be causing that - so I am assuming I could restore original functionality by replacing the files that are modified by this mod from the original release files and then start over.

Can you tell me which files htis mod changed so I can do that?

Thanks a huge bunch!

Simulator,

Sorry to keep hassling you about this.
I replaced the post_info.asp that you earlier indicated was the only file modified and so I replaced that file from my original download zip.

I continue to not get reply notification emails for some reason. Could this be caused my the modifications to the database?

If so could you tell me how to get my database back to pre-email customization mod status? I of course backed it up before upgrading but them dumped it like a dummy!

I have tested other email functions (send to friend etc.) and they are all working just fine.

I appreciate your help and support.

OK - I am approaching the forum with head bent down in shame and embarrasment <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

In all my testing of this mod I kept replying to myself - and Snitz performed exactly as it should - why notify yourself that you replied to yourself <img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle>

I still could not get the formatting to work right - even after deleting the info in the database and starting all over aain. I ultimately went back to the original post_info.asp and it has restored to normal.

Again - my apologies and appreciate the support even though I was being thick!

Since I was able to view the subject text, I thought it was strange that I wasn't able to view/edit the messages. I found the problem with the Select statements - I had to change the order in both select statements from
strsql = "Select m_message, m_subject ...
to
strsql = "Select <font color=red>m_subject, m_message</font id=red> ...

Excellent MOD now that it's working properly for me. Now I have to work on having the NT full username instead of username and I'll be set.

Well I got adventorous - I dug into the post_info.asp (original version) and found the messages in there and played with the code - took some experimenting and trial and error but I have eventually tailored each of the messages to show like I want them to - so I have the effects of the mod - without the mod <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I do wonder though if the two statements mentioned in the above post might have been causing my problems? I feel the itch coming to try it again...

I am not shy about digging around in code and learning - that is how I taught myself html coding - it is just that scripting can be very daunting - one wrong move and <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sorry you guys for any incompatibility... I created it for use with access, with no other platforms in mind.

To 'undo' the installation, just revert back to the old post_info.asp (the only file replaced), and if you want to undo any database changes, just run the following code.

strsql = "Drop table "&strTablePrefix&"email_config"
my_conn.execute(strsql)

Win95, I know what you mean. What are you using? SQL, Access?

I dont understand how the changes arent taking effect. If you are using sql, then minor inconsistancies with the code are probably the explanation, considering for SQL has to re-arrange a select statement minorly just to get it to work, which is wierd.
