Hi all,
If this is already in the pipeline, please ignore.
Last time I looked at the ASP emoticons were being translated from their forum-code (square-brackets with smileys in) to their icon (path to gif file) on-the-fly in the ASP. This means we're limited to x emoticons, and cannot easily add our own (eg :-{)> for tasche and goatee) without mining the code.
How about looking gif paths up from a table of emoticons which could be extensible, making it a simple data change to add emoticon sets.
Speed-wise it'd be a minor hit I suppose, but the overall architecture isn't overly-speedy anyway . . .

As Huwr said, that isn't a bug. quote: Speed-wise it'd be a minor hit I suppose, but the overall architecture isn't overly-speedy anyway . . .
You will eat those words when the next version comes out.

Hi Huw,
Marked it as an enhancement rather than a bug, maybe my eyes were failing me whilst looking for an enhancements section! As for the smilies mod hint thanks :) I imagined I wasn't the first to think of it . . .

If you don't know what your post should go uner, the General help is normally a better place to start than the bug forums

Even in the current version its extremely simple to add in extra emoticons, as a quick rough hack its 2 lines of code in inc_functions.asp just look for the existing replace lines of code to model your new ones on.

Hi Gremlin,
I was thinking more as a way of making the code more user-friendly for those terrified by code :-) Personally I'm happy to hack away . . .
