Hi everyone..! (and especially Nathan!)

I have seen some of the recent security issues with Snitz and feel like I should upgrade. I have been using .03 Snitz & 3.5 Active Users with no problems, but since I just followed the instructions to make the Active Users mod work, (i.e. I had no idea what I was doing!), and I seem to remember I hacked a little more to make it so only logged-in users could see the active users, I am not sure what the best upgrade process should be.

(sorry If you have already answered this, I tried seeking, but didnt find)

Does the MOD make the SNITZ database non-backwards compatible? I was thinking of installing Snitz .05 in a new directory which linked to the old database, while my users continued using v.03, then applying the new Active Users v4 MOD to the v.05 SNITZ, and when I had verified everything was working, switch them over.

Can anyone comment on whether this is a good process, or any other upgrading tips?

regards,

Peter

It should work fine with one exception. The two mods should be able to work together on the same database, but before you try to make the database updates for the 4.0 mod, open the dbs_activeusers.asp and remove this:

[DROP]
ONLINE
[END]

Wow, its really that easy..! Now why did I think I would be spending days on end cutting & pasting code, and corrupting my entire DB in the process..?

Thanks for your time Nathan, and thanks for the MOD!

regards

Peter
