Here at work we use the Snitz forum.
Now, the admins (moderators) decided to change the username policy, and deleted all profiles.
The result is that everyone had to make new profiles, and the posts made with the old ones just have "N/A" as usernames now.
Messy...

Would it have been possible for the moderators to simply change the profiles instead of deleting them?

Not sure about the moderators (though I think not), but it would be possible for the Admins at least.

Thomas

As an admin, you should have the ability to change everyone profile, including the UserName, i know this because i have had requests to change a username before now, they wanted me to shorten the name so that it's easier for everyone else.

How?

Is there no other way to do this but directly in the DB?

Admins can change member names. Just go to members.asp, get to the row where the used is presented click the pencil icon and you'll be taken to a dialog that will enable you to change the member's details, including his user name.

Excuse my silly questions, but where do you then change the admin username?

I think it is recommend not to change it. If you want to have an admin with another name create new user with the desired name, edit the user's profile and change its member level to Administrator.

If you would like to change username, do next:

login like admin, go to the profil of the person who you wont to change username, enter the profil and change it normaly...

you can enter the member directly from the forum, by clicking on his username, or going to the members in top of forum, and then clicking on the pencil, which is on the right side of cell or just on his username.

admin username you cant change it! but you can create new member with name, that you wont to insert instead the name "admin", then, when you allready created the member, logout, then login like admin, go to the profile of member whitch you just created, in there, you will see the rating of member, it will writte : "member", there change it to "administrator".(don't forget to press "register")
logout again, and then you login like member you created and changeit into admin...
Now you are admin with name you wont it...
