What should I do in order for my users to have their own avtars appearing on the "Author" column?

You can reserve the avatars for a user, in the admin > avatars section.
They could either send you the avatar so u can have it on your server, or just ask them the link to the file, you could then edit their profile for them once you have set up the avatar stuff.
i assume you already have the mod installed...

Use NotePad.....it can jump to Line #'s.
