I'm sure this might have been asked before but I couldn't find anything via search. Making someone else an Admin. would give that person total access to all the administration controls. But what about moderators? Could anyone tell me what the pros and cons of appointing monerators would be? Example: Would it be safe to just name someone you don't even know as monerator? And could you take the title away from them if they don't seem fit or pose a threat to the forum itself?

I would advise only giving that power to someone who has demonstrated that they are a valued and trusted member of your community.

Make a test account, make it a moderator, and log in as it. It's the best way to see the powers a moderator has. They can do pretty much anything to the specific forums you give them rights to moderate.
