Sorry if I've posted this to the wrong place, but I did it for 2 reasons; it's more likely to be seen and because it's probably just a simple thing, not more complicated coding that appears to be in the Dev Internationalization area. So feel free to move it if you think it's necessary
My question: Is it possible/allowed to change the registration page to suit my own locale? For instance, I am in the UK so use District, County, Postcode, not State, Zip, etc. Also I would like to put my own country as the initial option in the drop down variable. I did a search for a country's name and only found it in inc_profile.asp and pop_profile.asp - I assume the rest of the details are on these pages too. Is it as simple as I think? Or will it be a nightmare? If I change these pages, is it likely to cause any problems??
Many thanks in advance |

Every topic everywhere is given equal priority. But I look at every post in the Internationalization area, 10-20 times a day. I saw this accidentialy because I was scanning security related issues.

You can change anything you mention. If you use v4 beta, it will be easier for you. You only change the related language strings. The country name is in inc_profile.asp, and you can make one of them to be default. Make sure you test it before opening to public.
Next internationalized version (v4b04) will give you the option to select a default for the default country name and also provide the ability to enter translated name (not needed for you).

Thanks Bozden for your reply Great news about the Int. options in the next version! I knew somebody would have covered it already!! I'm a bit reluctant to move to the new beta version in case of errors that I have no idea about (I'm fairly new to all this) - do you think this would be a problem, or is the beta version stable and pretty much ready now? Plus, this is the umpteenth install and it seems to be working fine, mods installed, etc, so I may just do the changes manually for now and wait until I upgrade.
But thanks for your comments, much appreciated

It is not wise to use a beta version in production environment - especially if it is not desperately needed. Although v4b03.x is functionally the same as v3.3, and working error free, there will be no upgrade support for newer beta/final versions of v4. Also you cannot find v4 compatible versions of every MOD - not necessary for you if you want to have an English only forum.
So, stick with 3.x for now.
