Hi all,
I have a VERY STRANGE problem with my Forum.
I have registered a unique special Forum domainname --> www.vfxforum.com
This domain is pointing to a subdirectory (where the forum resides) on my main site --> www.pixelmade.com/..
And when I try to log-in it says I am succesfully logged in, and just after that I am returned to the main page of the forum and it says that I am NOT LOGGED IN?? I cannot post anything because I am not logged in??
Its working perfect when using the Subdomain I used before --> vfxforum.pixelmade.com which was also pointing to that same directory as mentioned before.
I tried setting cookies to Forum, still a problem.
Please help!
Cheers,
John. admin VFXForum www.vfxforum.com" target="_blank">http://www.vfxforum.com (at least when its working!) |

Make sure that is the address you have registered for the forum in the Main Forum Configuration panel.

I tried several options in the Main Forum Configuration Panel. www.vfxforum.com vfxforum.pixelmade.com www.pixelmade.com/..
For both HomeURL and ForumURL,
But none seems to work!
Could this be maybee a problem, the domain www.vfxforum.com is pointing to www.pixelmade.com/.. (without the closing of "/") Should it be www.pixelmade.com/../ (WITH closing of "/")???
Anybody has suggestions what I can try or had same experience??
Cheers,
John.

Path to forum is
http://www.pixelmade.com/vfxforum
So, the forum is situated under the directory vfxforum. This is exactly the directory to which the new domain www.vfxforum.com is pointing. I just cleared every cookie on my system but still am not able to LOG IN? Even tried creating a new member. Didn't use the option of saving password so NO cookie was saved to my drive. (checked that in cookie dir)
Could you maybee try again logging in?, using www.vfxforum.com
Thanks RuiRib!, for trying to solve my headache...
John.

No I can't login, not even with Save password unchecked.
Try to change your cookie to web site and change the URL to www.pixelmade.com/forum in the forum config, to see if that fixes it...

It gets weirder and weirder...
When I login using my subdomain -> http://vfxforum.pixelmade.com with a new member name, everything is OK! A nice cookie is created stating the username and password.
When I want to login using new domain -> http://www.vfxforum.com with the same member name, it says I am logged in as the message but I when I get redirected to the main page I am NOT Logged IN AND the Cookie has dissapeared from my PC? Go figure!
Is this any help to a solution?
J.

Well I really can't tell. This is caused by the way the browser deals with cookies, and I'm not a master at that...
What's the value for the strCookieURL and strForumURL vars (check that at the admin panel...).

What I meant was the value of the forum vars. Check that with the option Forum Variables Information at the admin panel.

Yes, thats possible for me too, but I have the problem when people are trying to LOGIN using http://www.vfxforum.com which is supposed to be the actual Forum Domain Name.

I don't think that you will be able to have all those URL's working at the same time. To try that main URL working see if you change the forum config to have the cookie set to web site and change the URL to be the one you want.

Still the same problem, shit! Why doens't it just work.
The probleem seems to deal with the redirecting from www.vfxforum.com to the actual directory of the forum on the webserver. It uses the following script:
[html]
[head] [title][/title] [meta name="forwarder" content="abc.dnsix.att"]
[/head]
[frameset rows="100%,*" framespacing="0" border="0"] [frame frameborder="0" name="MYTOPFRAME" src="http://www.pixelmade.com/vfxforum" noresize="noresize"] [noframes] [body]
[a href="http://www.pixelmade.com/vfxforum"]Enter Here</a] [/body] [/noframes] [/frameset] [/html]
I think the frameset gives the problem maybee?
Anybody?
