my forum was 'hacked' by a guy named jackal, and he puts all this crap about the forum being 'turkish hacked' everywhere. here is a preview of what he did:
www.counterspray.com/test/
he changed: - my logo up top - my admin password - he locked all topics - he renamed a few forums - then i deleted everything..
when i saw what was happening i deleted all forum files from the server before he could do anymore damage.. but now when i reloaded the files to a different folder from my back-ups, all his changes were still in place. i would love to change everything back, however, he changed my admin password somehow and i can't change it back. plz e-mail me with the next steps for me to take.
is this an unsecure forum? i've loved it with no problems until now.
plz help asap as i have a lot of regular visitors to my forum and i had to take it down.
thanx, [GBU]Moon www.counterspray.com http://gbu.x1.nl www.cycolan.com

If your on an access database then you can easily edit your password via simply editing the database. If not you can use a script or use the "admin" account (remember that?) to put your password back in place.
could you plz explain this as if i'm new at this?
the quick response is appreciated
- i reviewed / installed the 'extra' security.
thanx, [GBU]Moon

If you have an Access database and a copy of MS Access, then just download the database, open it up, go to the FORUM_MEMBERS table, find your username (probably tward the top) and then set your password as you choose.

well Nathan, let's just say i had a friend help me set all this up, ya know, one of those friends that fly thru it and make it look easy? well i say this because it's a reality. i have direct FTP access to the forum, i just have no idea how to change my password or where to find this file. i have all my files that i can edit with wordpad.. is there anything someone a little slower such as myself can do to get this forum back up and running quick?
thanx, [GBU]Moon i'm a gamer, yes, guilty as charged
