Well Homesite was original created by Allaire Corporation and when they were taken over by Macromedia they completed work on the last version of homesite, then the dev team was merged with the dev team for dreamweaver.
Two things I have noticed with MX is it doesn't do syntax hilighting for xsl files, and I managed to drag the Insert toolbar off the main toolbar thing so it's now a floating toolbar and I can't get it to go back.
I got a card from the "official" Dutch importer of Macromedia software and one of the things it said was (once translated by good ole me):
quote: What used to be UltraDev and Homesite are now part of Dreamweaver MX.
What they're trying to do is talk people into buying an upgrade for all MX programs at the same time to save a little money. Problem is I hardly ever use Flash and have never used ColdFusion (don't even know what the heck it's for ) so I'd pay for stuff I don't use.
Anyway, according to you, will DW MX be worth the money? I already have DW4 and FW4 so I'll upgrade FW anyway and the bundle is usually a bit cheaper than two seperate programs (should I want to upgrade DW later too).... Oh man too many abreviations
Coldfusion (also originally an Allaire product) is basically an ASP type product allowing for quicker development of dynamic database driven websites

Yeah me too heh, I did finally manage to get it to sit back up the top of my screen, but not where it was originally. It's still a preview relase, so probably still in Beta.
I've played with it a bit and the Coder interface reminds me a lot of HomeSite except that it has a lot of the Dreamweaver palettes slapped on here and there. God I'm glad they gave you a chose to choose the new interface vs the old DW 4/UltraDev interface. It felt like I was always moving the palettes out of they way with UltraDev.
I liked ColdFusion. The learning curve was really quick. Too bad that I won't be using the CFML stuff. Looks like it has really changed since v 4.0. The developer resources aren't quite the same as that available for ASP though.

You can still have it select an external text editor, which is nice. I'd probably have it point back to HS 5.
I kind of like it. The Coder interface is pretty easy for HomeSite users to get used to. It's more of a HomeSite version of Dreamweaver rather than Dreamweaver with HomeSite slapped in.
Does anyone know if you can get it to quote attributes in single quotes vs double quotes?
