<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote> yeah but its not bein used for it :) well it is, but there are like 3 mods total there, and on mine they can add them freely. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote> That is because they aren't mailed to Mike or me <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>, so they aren't added. You don't have to pay to have them up there, you just have to decide when the mod is bug-tested enough to have us put it up there.

I will almost certainly be posting my Mods to Mike or Gor when they are working with the next full release, rather than the beta releases.

btw, Da_Stimulator, I don't mind that you put them at your site (also) <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well, maybe people post the mods at your site because they don't have to do it via e-mail because, like you said, they find it easier that way. If that is so, that at least is a good thing to know.
The way it is now, I agree it is hard for people to find the mods, so anything that might change that is good.
If this doesn't work out, at least it has been tried... If it does work, the worst thing that could happen if that we might ask if you mind that we use the script here at the site also <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

if you want it you can have it :) I even made a setup script for it (mainly cuz I had to update the snitz table... thats what I'm using).
There is just a minor bug in editing the addon listings... still havnt figured it out yet.

Okay...I must reply... (I hate this....this board is very addicting <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>)
1. I think DA is providing a good service. Does the Snitz Dev Team really have the time to deal with mod tracking and stuff like that? Why not allow a willing member of the community take care of providing this as a service and his/her contribution back to the community?
2. Buggy or not buggy mod....who cares?! Just be honest in the description what the development status of the mod is. Maybe the mod is interesting enough that someone will download it, get the general idea and possibly work with the original developer in getting it into production faster and maybe even better. Even if it's abandoned, leave it there marked as abandoned. Maybe someone will resurrect it, make it work and be kind enought to even credit the original developer.
3. SEARCH - yeah right! Do a search on some of the mods...first, what keyword(s) do you search for? How many topics have been started with ...I think this would be a great idea...then answered with...see topic 1234. This reference database would allow for us to cut out all that garbage. What if the original topic started off differently and then morphed into the mod that it is currently. You can't tell me that mods have never deviated from the original intent. Oh, and what if you have an idea, not sure of exactly how it would work or what you would call it, the details are fuzzy, and you're not sure if something like that's been written before....where do you start searching? If there was a list, you could quickly look down the list and see if there's something similiar.
4. Oh, and back to the mods....I would think that maybe the mods that would be found in the archive area on the Snitz site, would be the mods that truly work or would be supported by the Snitz Team. Why would you want to put other mods there unless you put a big Disclaimer notice in font size 30+ that these are not officially supported and use at your own risk. This way you offload your responsibility on DA <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> - (just kidding).
5. There could possibly be mods that will never ever make it into Snitz. Bury them over there. <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>
Anyways...I'll stop the list. I may have been out of line with #5. <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
Also...maybe clarify what is a mod and what is a hack. I think it may be obvious, but maybe it's not. Like changing the sort order of something by setting the ORDER BY x ASC to ORDER BY x DESC would probably not qualify as a mod.
What would also be helpful is maybe coming up with a list of recommendations for building mods....such as working with the MOD Commander thingy, installation instructions, etc. I'm sure someone else would have some ideas for this list or possibly reference a topic of discussion. Oh...wait, let me search for the topic.
Search Results: mod = 200+ (too many to count) mod requirement = 6 mod recommendation = 3 mod recommendations = 0
From this experience, I'd also like to recommend returning a count of how many records were found. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> -- Not even I was going to count past 200...and that was about halfway. But I'll admit, I saw some pretty interesting topic titles that will warrant further investigation. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

thanks mule... I think...
Anywayz, about my site, its gone, freakin servers are gone, everythings gone. well not literally, but until I find another server, my domain name points to that one, and until I point it somewhere else, it will ask for network login, which sux, cuz even I dont have access (bastards)
I've moved all my main files over to cfm-resources... any files that could be accessed through forums.aokingdom.com can now be accessed the same way through stimmy.cfm-resources.com

I wrote something like that:
http://www.johnmiller2004.com/snitz/mods.php
I could add 'add your mod' if anyone wanted...
