Why did you using the nickname "Emrah" and a different e-mail address?
We didn't approve that bug report because we didn't agree that the "Fix" in that bug report was correct. |

Doh!
How that's worded doesn't sound good. I would hope that means that although you deleted that particular bug report, that you were aware of the bug and at that point in time were working on a correct fix.

Okay, great. I'll try that and post back with results. I think the problem was that I simply copied and pasted, not making sure about spacing, etc. To be honest, I didn't really know that spacing mattered, but it should've occurred to me. I just learned that it does matter in Java Script, so it should've crossed my mind...
Anyway, thanks for the response! You guys do a great service here, I can't understand how people could complain so much when you're offereing something for FREE. I offer a lot of free stuff on my web site, and people STILL complain!! I just got a nasty email this morning from a computer-challenged user accusing me of luring people to my web site under false pretenses.
Sorry... perhaps this is not the thread to get into this... I just wanted to thank you and tell you how greatful I am. After my experiences with Snitz Forums (the product and the forum), I've wondered: Why can't all software be open-source??? I still can't get my Windows/Word problems solved!!!
Peace to all of you.

That bug report was posted, I believe on the 21st or 22nd, we knew about the bug before that and had a fix on this site and in v3.4 that we were testing. We just weren't ready to release it yet. We were making sure that we were addressing the problem correctly. We really do know what we are doing. We would rather release a fix that addresses the problem and doesn't cause other problems, than just rush out a quick fix that might fix the problem and could cause other problems. |

Success!!
Yes, that did it. Somehow when I copied and pasted, the spacing and line breaks were removed. I thought it might've been because I was using Word Wrap (yeah, yeah, I know... dangerous!!) in Dreamweaver, but when I turned it off, it still pasted in one long line.
I would've then tried using Notepad, but I can't use it as it's now infected with one of those dang viruses...
So, I just inserted the breaks and spacing myself, and... it's working beautifully!!
One final thought for those who complain--could you imagine posting a message to Bill (Gates), telling him a problem, and then somebody (intelligently) answers your question and tells you how to fix it?
Yeah, I know MS has newsgroups, but the people who (hu)man those groups are not the same people who wrote the code... Important difference!
Again, thanks a million for your help!

Using
and [/co de] tags is making life easier for us, copy-paste programmers. . I inserted a new phrase to the glossary BTW.

Actually using the
&
tags doesn't really help as much as I would like, sure it makes it look right, but doesn't help when copying/pasting. For Example, if I copy and paste the code I posted in the topic of this post, it will paste all onto 1 line in my editor. I have looked for a way to display text in a post where it would be copy/paste friendly, but really the only thing I have found is to display it into a text box, but doing that is not aesthetically pleasing at all. It looks tacky. |

I hit the reply with quote icon and copy-paste the code from that box. I don't post it of course .

I do the same (or just edit the post), but it would be nice to be able to present code that could be copied/pasted without hassle. I just haven't found a good way to do it yet. |

I like evolt.org's solution to this very much, here is an example:

Maybe we can add a copy button? it's especially useful for locked topics where you cannot try to reply and get the crrect text topied.

I tried to apply the fix to a brand new forum for a friend but I got an error message after doing. Does the fix need something else in another file - inc_functions.asp, or something, to work?
