Make sure that you add all the bug-fixes which are found in this topic. There are several posts which either links to the fix or shows how to fix "shadow guests".

Hi Guys, if you are interested, I have made some mods to the active_users.asp page. What it now does is seperate the guests from the spiders and bots etc that are browsing your forums. it makes no extra hits on the database so it should be db friendly, it already recognises quite a few spiders and bots and even some email harvesters. (Evil barstards)

You can grab it from... http://www.diveoz.com.au/spider_users.zip

There are 2 files, the new active users and a new include browsers.asp this contains the code to define new spiders etc.

Backup your old active_users.asp and ftp these 2 files to your forums folder. if you don't like it, then replace it with your old copy.

I find it interesting to see what spiders and other non human driven things are trolling around. Sometimes you will see an unknown spider, then, just call the page like so... active_users.asp?sma=yup and you will see the raw info and you can then find the info you need to define a new spider tag in the browsers.asp.

I hope you enjoy it.

Me bad, I have a couple of pieces of text which I did not add to the multilingual files as I have no use for that, so, you can just do a direct translation or change it to whatever you want.

Oh, by the way, this is for the V3.4-> active users!!!!!

Also, there is a line that DIMs an array, I set it to 100 which is plenty for my forum, if you get MORE than that in yours, then adjust to suit.

I just installed the new Active User MOD and everything seemed fine until I tried to view my own profile. I got the following error when trying to view my profile:

Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0400'

Expected statement

/ewim0/forum/pop_profile.asp, line 1330

case "ModifyIt"
^

Here is my pop_profile.txt and my inc_profile.txt and I think the problem is happening between one of those! It might be the Anti-Spam code I added in inc_profile.asp but I have messed around with it and the pop_profile and still get the same error. Please help me with this!

I also get that, but not all the time, but I have not modified any of the code that launches that page or popup.

Ewim0, did you add any other mod after you had added AU, or did the error occur when you had added AU?

Previously I had added the Anti-Spam MOD which puts code in the exact same area! I did not start getting this error however till after I finished implementing the AU MOD! I have not implemented any other MOD's since the AU MOD! I just started adding the MOD about 5 hours!

Also a I saw it mentioned that there is suppose to be a "Lock Forum" icon near the top of my default page. I can see in the default.asp where the coding is for it but it does not appear on my forum. Can someone tell me why?

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask this but I added the active users mod. It works just fine but I'd like to know how I can show if the user is online or not directly under their number of posts in the author column. Can the mod do this now?
Thanks

blitzkrieg_bop, that is an add-on to AU which can be found in this topic.

Ewim0, Im not familiar with the anti-spam mod, but I would start to look if any of the anti-spam code changes in pop_profile.asp/inc_profile.asp are done on lines which AU also needs changes to. Unfortunately I don't have time to help you more with this (at the moment), but Im sure that you can check if those two mods require changes to the same lines (somewhere). When you have found those lines, it will (hopefully) be easy to fix the error you are recieving.

NM I got it working. I had to go back to the original inc_profile and pop_profile files and add everything back in from scratch for the MODs but now it seems to work fine. Now if only someone would help me with my SmileManager MOD/Poll MOD problem I posted in that thread I would have everything up and running!

pokemon, without any further info like which page this error appears in, I can only guess that the sql query is missing a parameter or two.

This isn't the right topic for help with adding the AU mod. You should post this as its own topic in Help: MOD Implementation instead.

Just a quick question. Is there a version of this mod without the language support? I am using an older version (CSS - 3.4.02) and am looking for it, and would like to avoid manually going through all the files.

Thanks.

Not that Im aware of, unfortunately. Someone might have applied css to the mod already, but they haven't posted it, AFAIK.

Even if you want to use it as english only, there is no real reason to remove the language feature. It doesn't do any harm.
