Davio and I discussed this in another topic, but I never heard any resolution so I thought I would post it as a bug.
Basically, in a moderated forum, a post may not be approved for some time. Yet, the post date is when the user posted the topic.
The net result is that some posts might not show up on active.asp if you have visited in between the time it was posted and time it was approved.
To fix this... I think the post date should be the approved timestamp on moderated forums.

Yes, although this may also cause some problems, as occasionally I forget and repy befor moderating the post, so that should be stopped I guess, so I ca't reply if it is not yet moderated

Huw:
Not allowing reply until it is accepted is a good idea (and making accept date the post date).
Moderated forums aren't used that heavily here but some forums have a lot of them... for members that log on a lot, active.asp is currently not very useful.

I fully agree, I am getting confused just keeping up with these few at the moment.

I think the post time should be the time that the person posted. What we need is a page that only shows posts yet to be moderated, or an option on Active.asp to only show posts that have not been moderated. |

That works if your a moderator... but not for regular members.
Regular members shouldn't see posts until they are approved... but will miss many posts on active.asp because it lists by post date (which is currently when the person posted).
If you want to keep post date the same then active.asp should check against accept date if its a moderated forum.

Why not set active.asp so that when a post is not moderated, the row's background color is different than the rest? That'll draw the attention of the moderators/admins and it won't need all that much editing of the codes.

I am seeing this more as a problem for regular members rather than for moderators.
I use active.asp exclusively on for this site... but I miss a lot of moderated posts becuase I check the site frequently (as described in my original post).
The moderators shouldn't be forced to accept posts faster, but rather the regular members should have a chance to see the posts on active.asp after they are accepted (kind of a mouthful there).

so your saying, if someone made a post yesterday, but it wasn't approved until today (but had a date/time stamp of yesterday), it wouldn't show up in your Active Topics page today because the date/time is older than what you are looking at today. Right? |

Exactly...
As HuwR said... I am having problems just following this topic since my active.asp is up and it is refreshing every 2 minutes.
So I have to check (and refresh manually) the Forum page to see if there is anything new.

Thats what happens. . . I believe the easy solution would be to leave the T_DATE alone and update the T_LAST_POST date. Would that not make everyone happy?

If the unmoderated posts show up on forum.asp and active.asp in a special color they'll draw more attention to them, which might result in faster moderation. That'll reduce part of the problem. Now if your moderators are not there for a while then Nathan's solution might be the easiest one regarding the post time.
My idea is simply based on the fact that moderators will see unmoderated posts easier. I'm not saying you should force your moderators to work faster, that'll only cause errors in the end.

Nathan, you are correct.
I was mixing up T_DATE and T_LAST_POST.
Updating T_LAST_POST would work great, and doesn't change the integrity of the member's posting date.
