Hi bozden,
I'm completing my PT lang pack for 4.0b3 (took longer than expected, but still only about 300 strings to go...). All of a sudden I wondered whether the new features expected for 3.4 will be incorporated into 4.0. Right now 4.0 is, in fact, 3.3 with Internationalization features. Will it evolve so that it will be 3.4 with Internationalization? How long do you expect this will take, if at all?

Yes, that is why 4 is still beta and not an official release, it will have all the additions that are going into 3.4

Ok, thank's for the answer.
That will mean that 4.0 will undergo some (major?) changes after 3.4 gets out, I guess?

Yes, even v4b04 will contain v3.4 changes. I'm currently working on an LCID table that will put some standarts on locale specific info (date, time, calendar etc), so that further development and MODs can use them as a library. There will also be a group of changes in the code and database structure (not very complex).
Today I tried to convert some of the v3.4 beta files - non-major files where I don't expect any more changes. Fortunatelly it went well, there are not too many changes in the language files so far.
One of the major issues will be standardization and control of language packs. Therefore I'm implementing a tool (I call it LangPackManager) to keep track of the changes in them. I will code some procs to make the necessary changes (additions/deletions/renaming) in the language files automatically. Therefore it will be OK to complete a v4b03.003 compatible Language File. Naturally you will need to make new translations for new and modified strings.
I hope I can add some of the LCID specific features (mainly in the admin area) into v4b04.
