I think this is pertinent!
"A place for community members to post announcements they feel are pertinent to everyone that visits these forums."
We are running under 3.1 sr4 and are thrilled with the software. The development is Very good and the support we received in the past was above any we received from anywhere else, we added Snitz and all of you that helped us on our board to our Credits page out of respect and thanks but...
Now, we are not in a position to upgrade to the newest version due to the fact that many of the Mods we added are not compatable nor have new ones been written for the new version. Not a problem as long as the older versions/code is supported.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that Mods are authored by individual members and not supported as part of the raw Snitz package and I know everyone is hot on the new release but I do feel we, the ones that can't upgrade for various reasons, be it time restraints to implement the mods, boards that can't be down while upgrading or what ever the reason, Mods that aren't available yet, would appreciate support from you guys that know it inside and out. Not just in the Previous Version Forum that nobody goes to or has the answers or interest (your membership is transient as to the version they're using). Especially for 3.1 sr4.
Over the course, we have tried to support Snitz with posting what we learned/help and donations but now we feel like the pariah that is using an older version. Gee, we decided to stay with Windows 98, does that make us dumb or smart because there are no huge bugs?
I fully believe in further development of the Snitz software and will, when server space and time permits, get the newest version to convert and support but we need help now with a version you released last year.
In the past, you all have been terrific. HuWr, Richard, Davio, Redbrad, Gor, Azrknight, Big9erFan and many others I forget now but are on our Credits page but now we feel ignored on the version we HAVE to run at this time. I do have to say that in a recent problem Friutz and Nathan came to our aid but without them, we would have been lost.
Thanks for listening to this rant and I do so hope I didn't offend anybody; it was Not my intention. You have all been terrific in the past and I hope to have a long, fruitful relationship here.
Again, thank you for a monument effort, all of you. I hope you see my concerns.

Hi HuwR, good to hear from you again. Actually, the help we needed was how to put a seperate link into each forum and was asked first by me on the Old Version forum, followed by a question/link on the Current Version forum followed by a new post in the General ASP help forum. The two first posts were met with lots of views and no replys. I titled the second post in the Current Version forum to you, Richard and Davio with no replies but many views. Finally we were replied to in the ASP forum, a wildcard in my views.
I also asked in one of those posts if you were still interested in doing an archive mod for the older version we discussed before your trip to Egypt where you said you had planned do that after your return trip and after the new version was released.
Anyway, I see Richard is trying to help me on my request in the old version forum and I thank you for your response.
I do intend to continue using your fine product, there is none better. I hope we can continue to get the support us idiots need
Thanks again

I think there is an archive mod for 3.1 SR4.
I downloaded it about a year ago, but never installed it, as the forum was part of a site that only started working last November. I think I still have the files.
I may have a look if you are interested...

ruirib, there is and that is what prompted HuwR's and my talk. It had a lot of problems and he didn't recommend using it. Thanks for trying to help. That is what makes this a great support forum; members like you!

You have to understand that the Help: Previous Version forum was created because users wanted help with thier older versions of thier forum. So we agreed that we will create the forum as long as the users would provide the help for the other users who needed help with thier previous versions of the forum. DEV Team Members, Moderators or the Admins don't have the time or the resources to help everyone with the older version of the forums. We help out when we can.
For me, I can help with general questions concerning the 3.1 version, but other than that I won't be able to help. I don't even visit the previous version forum, unless a topic title catches my intrest. You have to understand that once you plan on not upgrading your forums again, you need to reach a point where you are satisfied with your forum and stop adding any more mods. If you run into problems with using the forum in general I am sure others would be able to help.
We are glad you choose Snitz Forums to use on your site. We are glad that you gave back some of your time and effort to the Snitz Community. We couldn't be anymore prouder of the Community of users we have here. You guys are the best. But the higher ranking members of the Snitz team can't give out any more of thier help than they can possibly give. So we rely on our communty of users to cover for us, while we churn out a great software for them.
I can agree with you that it is a pain to upgrade the forums when you have mods installed, and it most likely always will be a pain. Even I don't feel like upgrading my forum either. Hopefully we will reach a point that users just use the software 'out of the box' and do all the customizing they need from the admin options without adding any mods.

Hi Davio, please don't feel offended by my "rant." It wasn't really a rant so much as it was a question why we don't see you Einsteins in the old version forum; we need on-going help too. We have to keep our old versions running. It's not a matter of it being a pain to upgrade, more a matter of loosing features that our membership or design has been built around.
I do agree it would be great to be able to use Snitz "Out Of The Box" as you say and we would have if we didn't see and implement all the wonderful Mods offered, receiving all the support from the developers like yourself and many others. Now that we have, we still require support on the last version; unfortunatly we aren't all as talented as some of you, code wise. I'll tell you, if I could write code like some of you, I'd be here everyday helping out but I can't at this point so I help where I can and ask for help when I need it. Who do I go to that knows Snitz better but you all?
Bottom line, I don't want you or any Snitz developers to think I expect anything. This is wonderful forum software and the price is right. That's not lost on me. Thank you for all the help you've been and may be in the future
Rib

I am still a version 3.1 SR4 person because we could not upgrade either. I know it far better than the later releases.
I don't even work for the same company anymore but I still try to help out with questions if I can.

LoL. That meant you too Doug. Basically was reffering to the Snitz Team. Admins, Mods, DEV Members.
Ribkick, I wasn't offended by your rant at all. Just explaining why I couldn't help out as much in that forum.

Davio, thanks! I can dig where you're comin from and I appreciate your position. I hope you appreciate mine.
If it weren't for you and many other developers we wouldn't have the forum we have today. It is a part of all of you as well as a part of us.
I hope we can still count on you guys for the help we need as we learn more thereby being more an asset to the whole Snitz community way as we're able to offer support to new Snitz members; old and new.

I have all versions of the forums from 3.1SR4 onwards installed on a test machine and will try and help when I can though my time is usually pretty stretched, If I do see somone asking for help and I know the answer or can find it pretty quickly, I'll always jump in to help out.
