The RTE is a great experiment, fun to play with, and a good mod. But if it were added to the code it would add instability, confusion, and constraints to the forum itself.
How about customizing the RTE for HTML OFF mode for the message posting? I mean, instead of wriring [ b ] bold word [ / b ], the script will place the bold word between the custom snitz forum [tags]. Its like writing the message in "preview" mode.
ps: When I said "simple" in one of my early message, I meant "easy to use for end users". Of course, snitz forum is quite sophisticated but it should be "difficult" to use for end users.

If the RTE is using [b] instead of <b> then how the heck is it going to display correctly while editing cause the browser doesn't understand [b]

As far as i understand there is no harm to use some of the tags in snitz form even when the HTML is off. say bold, italic, underline and others... so the "WYSIWYG editor" will only allow to insert "allowed" html tags and "show" the message with real html tags but will save it with custom tags when you post it..
Right? or am i missing something here..

Your missing the point that the tags that the RTE require to function cannot be made into forum code or vice versa.
